The whip grenade whacks grenade idea is amazing, it gives the game a lot of defence because it can only knock back one grenade at once.
Marines have to play in team.
    I like this idea!
Maybe if Whips burn, they can not whack the grenade?

I mean to be serious, whips are most time useless, only in very small areas and even there, they can simply killed by grenade launcher or sneak behind corners...so this idea is sweet.

throwing back granades is just awesome. That would increase the defense of the whip enormous. Please add this to Natural Selection 2. :)

I love it. It greatly increases the survivability of the whip and it introduces new strategy elements.

    Grenade throwing whip?
    Yes. Yes. Yes.

Adds another unique element to the game, which is what makes NS2 what it is.

An "area denial tool" that 90% of the time sits behind the hive. If you place it around a corner where it may be hard to shoot, marines simply run by it. If it is out in the open, it gets easily shot down. Doesn't really do much area denial when marines will just shoot/nade the hive from afar I'm afraid. As of right now the whip is an upgrade structure and barely anything more than that.

I'd really love to see mature whips flinging their bile bombs in the thick of it with other kharaa. It should be similar to the ARC but still quite different. A moving physical way-point that the kham can use to communicate the team the direction of a strategic push is what a whip is meant to be. Along with DI, it is an extremely awesome rts/fps blend. The gorges can work with a kham-controlled whip to secure chokepoints and outposts, both using their cysts to roll out a carpet of DI for the whip to travel.

Whatever you do, please do something with the whips. They aren't worth the res to build (except for the initial one to upgrade).

Tbh Whip baseball seems rather gimmicky.
And it doesn't make sense; why do grenades explode on contact with every alien structure but not the Whip?

    Currently the Whip dies in
    - 8 seconds to the rifle (under 2 clips) and
    - 6 seconds to grenades.

    The Mature Whip dies in
    - 8 seconds to grenades,
    - 12 seconds to the rifle (a little over 2 clips) and
    - about 10 seconds to the shotgun (1 clip, and you can even stay alive with 60 hp!!!).

Now these are timings for one marine, if there are more the Whip dies almost instantly to anything.
If this is meant to improve Whip survivability... it won't.
A stationary melee defence is simply useless against an all-ranged enemy.

I thought the Whip was supposed to knock marines around? So if you place them just right, you could get marine tennis if a careless soul walks in between them.

Veil looks to be adapting to NS2 well. I can't wait to see what nano-grid is going to look like! Will it have 2 res? Maybe a tech point in there as well?

I'm quite interested to see the map completed!

What if the whip would just instakill marines? Or at least do 90hp damage?

Veil: to be honest, I was already looking forward to never see it again :/ It was a rather boring map, too bright, too yellow and with unadorned wide hallways.

I never liked the idea of the whip. There's no need for that sort of offense when you got a hydra.

What the whip needs to be is a static defense, rather than a static offense. Instead of reaching out and hitting something back, it needs to reach out, grab them, hurt them a bit and let them go. Carnivorous plant style, naturally it'd need quite a bit more armor to nuture that type of play but it'd be different and more dynamic.

Welcome Dushan! You are brave to step into this. Hard core fans with direct access to devs can be a frustrating experience. Get used to the idea that everything you do is wrong and stupid, that NS1 did it better anyway and that if only you listened to random poster xy everything would be peachy. GLHF!

Then again you're working on NS2 so YAAAAAAAY! =)

No he is there to keep the balance in the force.
Meanwhile I found this <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=HO0rCAiXGZo#t=307s" target="_blank">Video</a> of Dushan :D short but that is all I could find for now.
I do hope to see and hear more from him in those upcoming dev videos that they said would make a comeback.
