Preorder Question

I already preordered the game (Standard Edition, because i'd like the Special Edition for the black armor, but i didn't know the game before 2-3 days ago), so the answer won't change nothing for me.
However, the question is: why there is a black marine armor for the Special Edition, and nothing for those who preorder the Standard Edition? Those players who preorder the game now, without a release date, and by risking their money untill the game is not finished (we don't know the final result), are not equally deserving something? A veteran medal after the release, a different armor, or whatever you want?

Maybe because the black armor players paid a $20 premium over the regular game cost, and did it at a point in the development process where UWE <i>really</i> needed funds.

If a player like me, knows this game for the first time now, and decides to preorder the game, i think he equally deserves a little bonus in game, or they could have done a unique kind of preorder by giving to any preorder a black armor, or they could give something to standard preorders without deny the black armor, that would be a unique bonus for alpha users anyway.

Well maybe they'll let you buy the black armor for $20 on top of what you paid. It's what we had to do. Fair? This would get more money to UWE, and you could have your armor.
Certainly who preorder the game now deserves something. Obviously not the same special edition bonus, but something different, because they are preorders anyway.

Your "bonus" for the preorder is that you can help create the game by incredible cool ideas or modding things or even build a map that will may be official on NS2 gold. I saw so many comunnity people been directly involved in development of the game.
Also some People play this game for longer than 1 year (entered when it was alpha), dealing with the biggest bugs and strangest connections. So if some one can preorder NS2 1 day before release and getting the black armour to em would be a slap in the face to the special edition buyers.
And never forget that there is a reason why its called special edition if you are to late you are to late.
(for example: you just found out there is black ops and you want the special edition for the medal even if it is 1 year out, you need luck or enough money to buy it)
But I would say that all preorderer get the Constellation Icon in NS2 style would be faire enough.
Maybe we can add something for you "regular" pre-order folks later. It's not the simplest thing in the world for us, but I do think it would be a nice gesture.

Special edition buyers bought way before most of the standard orderers, because nearly everybody bought special ed at release. So they kind of gave the initial funds.
Go outside master a sport and gain your compliment there instead of buying hats and stuff.

Then you're pre-ordering from the wrong places, a lot of places are giving special pre-order content, OP does have a point though, pre-orders do help fund the continuing of their development, the game is far from being anywhere near completion and for all we know UWE could run out of funds and collapse by then. Personally I don't care either way, but the defence "we bought it before alpha" really isn't an excuse and belittling the rest of the pre-order buyers who are helping to continue putting funds into UWE for the game.
I pre-order the game 3 times, yes you listen right, 3 times.
One for me and 2 for friends, they wasn't sure if it worth and now they love it and tell their mates.
Anyway maybe you forget that the Standard Edition bonus is YOU CAN PLAY the beta...so whats your point?
Special Preorder-buyer get the black armor only...(the alpha doesn't count it was way to short and not important).
So, yes i think the black armor should be to the special edition pre-order people, they follow the game since ns1 (mostly) and i heard that over 90% of the orders where special editions...so there enough black armors.
Sure everybody who pay and buy NS2 are supporting them and FOR THAT they get access to the beta and see the developing, thats in my opinion enough.
People who think thats not enough, are maybe wrong here.
NS2 is a great game and is still in development.
I don't understand whats the problem with black armor is only for special edition-buyer.
And the game isn't far from being anywhere near completion.
The developing goes fast, i think you forget how much people work on ns2...
its not a blockbuster team of 100 of people, its a tiny team, and for that size of a team, they did a very good game.
Sure its undone, has fps issues and on, but they add so much features and do their best (i guess, i can not watch them working)
And because there not that big, they got more time then big companys.
I can not translate what i want to say...
Come on he is asking for some special things, it sounds to me like a "give me stuff or i don't buy"...which is cheeky in my mind.
Sure they buy a undone product, but they get access to the beta AND all tools (and i can say that 100 times, maybe you know it then...)...so why should they get more extras?
If they get a diffrent armor, what did steam buyer got?

I think special preorders have the black armor anyway, so, why adding something different for standard edition is not a nice gesture?
However, i was just thinking to something less evident than a full black armor, something like a helmet, or a shimmering visible medal.
My point of view is you can add something to both preorders without being disrespectful with one or the other kind of preorder, because the bonus would be different.

which by the way if you want your ###### black Armour so bad, you do got the development tools including the model, and material compiler, so you could make your own hehe.
Why no-one who asking for something special is not proactive enough and try to do a slightly modified model.
(i.e. yellow alloy medal on chest of actual model) and submit it here as suggestion???

It's simple and effective, no need to bother Cory with something this simple. Requires some pre-oder DLC key shenanigans, I guess...

I really don't understand this. The only way to identify an SE owner is the black armor. If you don't care about the armor and you want to do something special/give money to UWE, go do something nice and buy a copy of the game for someone who can't afford it.
If you want some other pre-order bonus, then you're not really asking for the SE. That's fine, but your wording would make a lot more sense imo

I mean they have more problems then adding stuff for people who buy the standard edition now.
Maybe they add on final release (steamstore release) a DLC code for everyone who bought the game (special and standard) which give a bit better armor look then the default.
And people who wants it, can buy that as a DLC but not the black armor :P.
Some small recognition for all people who pre-order at this point would be nice I agree.
Could be a really small thing like armor insignia or whatever people above have suggested.
That would not take anything away from people who have the SE.
This is a community game and small gestures towards the community never hurt.

Ehm did you ever read the comments? its irony you cry about people don't read because it looks like you don't do it.
Its not that easy to insert the armor for every pre-order as dlc i guess.
it has to be a DLC on steam like black armor...

and i am very sure its more important to make the game more playable then some "golden skin" armor or what ever...
so please let UWE first polish the game before you cry about bonus ^^
