Also, unqualified descriptions of FPS aren't very helpful. You really need to benchmark it for it to be meaningful.

    geforce 460

    40-60 fps

this number is totaly meaningless. Where do you get those fps? doing what? what resolution, details etc.

I get 40-60 fps on summit, all maxed out (1900x1080). Running around alone.

There is more going on behind the scenes to be getting that much fps with that hardware. Whats your resolution? Whats your ingame settings? What are your card settings? etc, etc.

    atm.

    i7 920 @ 3.3Ghz
(downclocked again from my 4.5, dont rlly need the power right now as im mainly working on it, i keep it on 3.3 so it runs 1:1 with my ram as the older i7's only support 1066 ram)
GTX 295 (my old gpu back, till i get a replacement again)
    6GB DDR3 ram @ 1333hz

    1920*1200
    Max settings

i get between 15-70 fps on summit, kind of heavy fluctuating.
Im guessing NS2 is far from dualGPU optimized so im guessing with the 295 im prob running around with about a GTX260's power (halve the 295's power)

Hey, I've got some really problems with smooth playing...

    My System:
    Phenom II x 4 840 @ 3,2Ghz
    MSI r6850 Afterburner (AMD 11.7)
    4GB Systemram
    Win7 64bit

    Setting on NS2 -rediculous @ 1650*1050
    Frames at gameplay:
    at startuproom I've got 100fps
    while playing I got 20-35fps
    while combat...less20-25fps

The rediculous part is that I just upgraded my video card from a geforce8800GTS 320mb and I got with this card just the same frames as I have with my new card in combat my 8800 was even better...
I don't know what I have to do more to get a better performance....

It's worth mentioning your Nvidia/AMD driver version and what OS you are running (including if it's 32-bit or 64-bit).

    Q9450 @ 3.2ghz (oc'ed running 1:1 with ram, I think standard clocks are 2.66ghz.)
    gtx560Ti (1gb; also slightly oc'ed)
    4gb ddr2
    1920*1200

    40-60 fps.
Game is running very smooth at high settings (in-game) with v-sync enabled. I do have a little hick-up now and then but nothing really gamebreaking.
no tweaking done in nvidea control centre.

...aaaaaand that's why it's low. Eyefinity FTW (3*1920x1080 panoramic, 48:9 AR!), but pushing that many pixels at maxed settings makes a single card wheeze (and go unstable.. one of the pre-OC'd cards as it was cheaper than a standard version, had to drop the OC to get it to stop 'has stopped responding and been restarted' looping). Technically 6004x1080, with bezel compensation, but I believe those portions don't get rendered so wasn't counting it. :D

Why bother with such a stupid resolution, when you could be playing a far smoother res at like 1600x1024 or something?

To be a great gamer, performance and a consistant setup (same mouse, keyboard - not changing the control layout) is key.

You are not even going to notice a graphical difference at 1600 either really, or just play it in full HD.

Not to mention the GUI on NS2 screws up if you use dual monitors.
