I actually think maybe infestation around a vent opening should let Gorges squeeze through :P

I am actually surprised, because there is no mention of it in the mapping guidelines and I assumed the Gorge to be the same size as the Skulk while I was creating Summit.
Kinda hard to build a map with so many different player sizes especially regarding stuck spots :/

Gorges and skulks and lerks should fit into the same vents imo. Crouching fades too.

Fades are *huge* compared to those smaller lifeforms (and hell, Marines), and have some pretty flexible mobility options in the form of Blink. I don't think they need to be able to scoot down vents, too.

Crouching fade in a vent is a little too horrifying for me.

I loved the ns1 vent style where everything aside from onos could go through vents.

Made being near an open vent a scary place. And crawling through vents as a marine was a very claustrophobic and intense experience.

As long as ducking means you move at around 50% of normal speed, I am fine with the larger lifeforms (not onos) squeezing into vents.

    ^FTW
Even jetpacks and heavies could get in that vent, even though it didn't make the most "sense." If you were stuck in a vent without a jp as a marine, you KNEW you couldn't run from anything that caught you, and that was fun :3

We are looking into this now. It looks like the collision box for the gorge is taller then his actual 3rd person model, so once we adjust that, it should allow him to fit into vents. Fade crouch is also being fixed, and both crouching fades and marines will be able to fit into vents now, as well.

Awesome news, hopefully maps will be designed with a few vents accessible to marines and gorges. Or playerboosting.

Is the size in SparkE of the player/unit/building models representative of their actual size? If this is the case, we could add it to the <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/wiki/index.php/Basic_Mapping_Guidelines#Models" target="_blank">"models" section on the NS2 wiki</a>

While you're messing with the hitboxes, could you make the lerk one a bit bigger? It's really hard to hit while flying.

Collision boxes aren't the same as hitboxes. Except in NS1.04, but that got fixed.

I always thought the intention was for marines to not fit through vents in NS2.

me too, i liked the fact that vents in ns2 are skulks/gorge?/lerk terrain only.

Jetpack users were planned to be able to go through vents. So it's not that far to guess marines should fit in vents as well.

    Nothing wrong with less restrictions.

unless there is ladders in the vents marines will have a problem unless they have jetpack, so skulks still have the upper hand there.
    as they should.
