So im downloading NS2 right now its been like 5+ years since iv played NS1 and i cant wait to get into the action. I have been watching videos from NS2HD for the last few days and man im looking forward to getting into this. and tips and advice for and australian for getting started?

    Well there is one Australian NS2 Beta server currently, it's hosted in Melbourne.
    I'm trying to get one in Western Australia, Perth setup within the following weeks.

    If you see not many people on the servers, don't be too alarmed, usually the weekends after a good patch the server gets near full. It's still kinda chunky (so chunky you can carve it) gameplay at the moment, but it is beta :)
    So, stick with it, updates come weekly most of the time, and have fun :D

    Thanks RockyMarc and yeah lol i knew it was beta and i wont complain i know what im getting myself into haha. I just played this game so much as a kid and after watching all the clips on youtube i must have it haha. I havnt seen an onos yet tho or aliens in stealth or HA marines are they going to be in the game or have they been removed for NS2? And again thanks RockyMarc good to know there is an australia server =D

    Yup they are going to be in the game (as far as I know?) but they are still work in progress and not accessible to us plebs yet :)
    It's a tease as in the alien upgrades, you can select the onos but it does nothing :o

    Any tips I can provide.. Well not really, just that the old Fade phase (tounge twister) is back in like the original ns1 (where he teleports) so thats something to play around with.
    On first loading the game, you might want to try window mode just in case your computer shats itself, being the first run and all.

    Yeah first time running my computer shat itself haha if only i read this first haha. everything seems ok now tho only one issue im having is that everything is really really dark and i cant see any walls and eveything that i can kinda see is simi transperent and i can only see lights fully haha. i think its a gfx issue so im going to update my drivers to see if that fixes it. and sweet ill jump on GameSurge now =D

    I know when the game starts it does take awhile to get into it, and is pitch black.

    I seem to recall that this is caused by the anti-aliasing settings of some Radeon cards.
    Try turning AA off in the Catalyst control center.

    Also as was previously mentioned you need to go into the CCC and disable FSAA for NS2.

    Yeah - Mobile Chips for laptops often come with really crappy custom drivers from their manufacturer. Worst are Dell and HP for this.

    For others as well, get the latest chip drivers direct from AMD or Nvidia, NOT your laptop manufacturer.

    Not if you have custom drivers by other manufacturers. Doesnt always auto-update, and some people don't even have that set up.
