That's right eSports fans! I'm taking up the challange and this wednesday you can tune into the Team Sportscast Network and hear all the best FLF action broadcast to you LIVE via winamp shoutcast. All you need is a good 'ol copy of winamp to tune in and hear the biggest match of the season, nay, the year!

-RoT- defends their championship this wednesday (Dec 4th)against [cA] in what will surely be an amazing match! Pre-Game chat starts at 8:30pm EST and the match itself is at 9:00pm EST!

So what's this FLF?
FLF is Frontline Force, a HL mod which has been around for 2 years but ATM only has a small community (see below). This has to be one of the most team oriented games that i've ever played! Here's a brief rundown of FLF:

Revolutionary Gameplay

There are 2 teams, one team is on defence, while the other team attacks. After the time runs out (or all the objectives are captured) the teams reverse sides, and play again (with the previous attackers no defending and the previous defenders now attacking).

Spread around the map are multiple "Capture Points" (CPs). The objective of the defending team is to *not* let the enemies capture these points. The objective of the attackers is to capture these points. You "capture" a point by 'using' it for x seconds (each point is different, this is a variable set by the mapper). Usually it takes anywhere from 5-15 seconds to capture a point (depending on how far it is from defenders spawn).

While 'using' a capture point you are completely vulnerable. Your weapon disapeers so you must depend on your team mates to defend you while you capture!

After a point is captured by the attackers the defenders can not take the point back. They have to cut their losses and defend the rest better.

If the defenders defend at least 1 point for the whole time limit (a map variable, usually 5-10 minutes), they are rewarded with points equal to the number they were able to defend (so if they kept 2 points uncaptured they get 2 points, if they kept 3 points uncaptured they get 3 points, etc.). If they get totally overrun and the attackers capture all the points before time runs out, the defenders get 0 points.

If the attackers capture all the points they get points equal to the number of CPs on the map. So if they capture all 4 CPs on the map, they get 4 points. If there are only 3 CPs on the map they will get 3 points, etc. If they do not capture all the points however, they get nothing.

Accuracy modeled realistically. In order to get the most accuracy you should be prone and not moving. Next best is crouching, and last is standing. Worst accuracy is jumping while moving. This makes for a good tactical game where in close combat, accuracy doesn't matter much but the farther away you get, the more stationary you should be if you want to get that headshot!

Customize yourself! Pick the class and weapons (one primary and 1 secondary) that suit how you play! Do you want to play support with an MG? or recon with a sniper rifle? Or maybe just get in close with an assult+M4?

3 Classes to choose from.
note: all classes get access to the SMGs and shotguns

Recon: Speciaty class used for long range sniping and capturing points fast.
+Advantages/-Disadvantages

+ Able to capture points faster than any other class.

+ Able to choose from either 2 sniper rifles

+ Fastest class in the game

+ Gets 2 of each grenade type (flash and HE).

- Lowest amor of any class

- Cannot use any of the assult rifles or the MG

Assult: Your main class which is good for any situation.
+Advantages/-Disadvantages

+ Can use any of the assult rifles.

+ More armor than recon (less than support).

+ More grenades than Support (2 flash, 1 HE).

+ Faster than Support (slower than recon).

+ Captures points faster than support (slower than recon).

- Cannot use the sniper rifles or the MG

Support: Specialty class used to defend cappers and points.
+Advantages/-Disadvantages

+Can use the MG or the assult rifles.

+ Most armor of any class.

- Slowest of all the classes.

- Slowest to capture of all the classes.

- Gets least grenades of all classes (1 HE).

Most Teamplay Oriented Game, Ever!

Depending on your proximity to teammates you get certain bonuses! Being near teammates will allow you to slowly heal, and also you will have better accuracy the more teammates you are near! This represents the feeling of "group saftey" and encourages teamwork.

Hud displayes how many teammates you are near with 1 (red) 2 (yellow) and 3 (green) helmuts accordingly. The more you are near, the better the bonuses are!

Your score reflects your performance, not your DMing ability! As the attackers, you get 5 poins for successfully capturing a point, and any teammates near you get 3 points added to their scores for defending you. Likewise, as defenders you get 5 points for killing a person while he's capping and 3 points for killing somebody near the capture zone (potential capture).

Save Your teammates! If you crouch on an enemy grenade this simulates 'diving' on a grenade to save your comrades! You sacrifice yourself but save the teammates around you (say the person capping?). If you are crouched on a grenade when it explodes and there are teammates around you get bonus points for saving their lives!

Every message you send in teamchat looks like this:
Bridger (fountain cap point): Get over here i need help!
It has your location put in parenthesis automatically! All the voice commands do the same thing, making sure you know where the help is needed

Check out Frontline Force at www.flfmod.com and give it a try!

Phhht, i've been there and FLF got horrible at 1.2.
The mod had a bad release at 1.2 in which 2 features (supression fire and a VERY powerful automatic shotgun) were introduced, and instantly detested by the community. This pushed many people away from FLF and turned it from #3 mod to #6 or 7 pretty quickly. FLF is now, however, 1.7 and is better than ever! If you left FLF around that time now it's time to come back and try it out! Supression fire is gone and all the weapons are balanced, plus there are over 30 maps! (counting the 2 map packs).

Not sure what gamecasting is?
Think of it as a normal sport, call it...basketball. Imagine turning on the radio in your car and listening to the game on the drive home. Now take that immage, and turn the game back into FLF, now you got yourself the Team Sportscast Network

Still not convinced? We only hire the best casters that $0 can buy! Just tune in for this match, and if your not convinced, go do something else, but i bet you'll be hooked the instant the action begins Usually we'll team up with HLTV, synch it with TsN so you can watch and listen to the best commentary around, but since FLFTV isn't going to be ready until 2.0, we'll have to work with just TsN (which is still by far your best choice of eSports entertainment.

For an idea of what gamecasting sounds like click here. While listening to this snipit keep in mind that this was one of my first casts (actually my audition for the TsN) and that the quality has only gone up since then (more excitment, less dead air, more discription, etc.) The match in question is DwK vs. 101st on dod_ramelle in 2.1 i believe.

So i'm convinced now, how do i listen?
All you have to do is click this link: www.tsncentral.com/server1.pls and winamp should (if it is your default .pls player) start streaming the cast. If it doesn't work try going into your winamp settings and changing the file assosiations so winamp is default player for .pls, restart winamp, and try again. If all else fails contact me in IRC and i'll help you out!

As an alternative just go to the TsN website (www.tsncentral.com) and click on the top banner for server 1 or server 2 (will have details on whatever event is on that server). For this wednesday the FLF action will be on server1.

Want to chat with other listeners? join #frontline or #tsncentral on ircgamesnet.net! TsN also has it's main channel on ETG (#TsN).

And just in case you don't have winamp, just go to www.winamp.com to grab this great free program!

I hope to get 50-60 listeners or more (100?) so just give it a shot!

I used to play FLF years ago, but I quit playing after a while. I pretty much stopped playing it when they inroduced Suppresive Fire, which consequently is around the same DoD came out. I started playing DoD more than FLF. I did go back after they removed SF but the game just wasnt the same.

Most of us already know what FLF is
You spouted out alot of false crap there. FLF is not the most team oriented game in history, it is not revolutionary either. It has many features that have been used many times before, and I can name numerous games that are more team based. FLF is better than almost every other mod, but it definitly isnt everything you called it.

I am interested in listening to the broadcast, however.

I just found it damned near impossible to kill people in that game, yet they could easily kill me, I never understood it. I would put 25 rounds into and enemy and they would spin around and drop me with less than 10 shots. Made me angry very fast.

I don't know of any other game i've played in which the players work together on PUBLIC servers 80% of the time.

And most of the games out there that have these features *took* them from FLF. Remember FLF came out 2 years ago, well before RtCW (which has the location feature).

No, it's a single word, Frontline Force, as in, the force that fights on the frontline.

lol, teuf beat me to it. Well anyway, tzarcon, FLF actually DID come out with alot of new features, it just got no respect

for example DoD's respawn system , everyone called it "unique" blah blah, it was in FLF a year before, well I'm blabbing now, so go download FLF if you played it before/never played it/hell even if you still play it, download it again (someone stop me)

btw it's not dod recoil, more like... mix of NS/CS recoil (gets worse over time but not in a realistic fashion)
