NS 2 Demo for pc/laptop?

<div class="IPBDescription">Will run for games!?</div>Hey NS 2 team, you guys should think about making a demo test thing for people that dont know if the game will work on their pc/laptop, thats why i am not going to buy because i dont know if the game will run or not!

So please NS 2 team, please make a system test thing for NS 2!

Would be kinda pointless, because the game is still in beta and is receiving weekly patches for optimization issues and gameplay. So releasing a demo in it's current state won't tell you anything about the performance on lower end machines.

The public normally doesn't get to see a game in this state, the beta by other big brand companies is pretty much a finalized and optimized game with some gameplay issues which have to be addressed. In NS2's case we get the privilege of experiencing the entire alpha/beta/final process, not just the final transition of final beta -> full release, which is a tiny step in the entire process

Well the demo would be only for engine test to see if someone's pc can take the graphics, it would not be for gameplay or anything.

As a matter of fact hl1 had this rail thing where it showed the screen a load of stuff to see what affected the pc/laptop's performance.

Well, that would be neat. Except for the fact that the game enginge is also in a beta. Right now everybody is playing in 15-30fps on average, regardless of spec.

How? Oh and the guys at SC 2/blizzard said my pc would not be able to play SC 2 yet my pc plays it better than most others WTF?

Well technically, there was an official engine test that was released before Alpha. Of course you still had to pre-order, but you should be doing that anyways. There's really no excuse for not buying NS2 if you're really curious about it running on your PC. Buy it anyways, and if it doesn't run well, then do an upgrade. The beta state isn't fully optimised, but we should definately see improvements in every patch.

technically for it to be playable it needs to run at 30fps ALL the time, now I like the idea of benchmark test for people to see if they can run it but it should not happen anytime soon, that should be done after all aspects of the engine are there and optimized and running bug free.

There was already other people that asked for this, to see if their system will be enough, so they posted the system spec and we all tell them that is perfect, and this guys are currently enjoying the game.

he's an arrogant kiddie, but completely right, 40-45 fps is the limit for enjoyable-playable
but ns2 is getting there, will just take some time...

how much? dunno. 2-3 patches? or 1-3 months?

if you can run modern games at 60-120 fps then ns2 will be no problem, you will probably have 30-40fps as it is now

and what gamer doesn't his CPU/GPU? please

Tss, i'll have you know i played CS competitively with 10-20fps back in the days, when others were sporting 90+fps.
Granted tho, life is easier past the 30fps mark.

Tho its still a wee bit different to say you need atleast 60-<b>120</b>fps (implying you need >120 in order to not suck), and having a minimum req. of 40fps, which is what i reacted to.

Yes, and you can wait trying the game out until its _stable_.
Believe me, UWE has way more important things to work out than a demo that will need just as much maintenance as the complete game.

And for system specs, press WIN+r and type in "dxdiag" in the box.
Then paste all the info from the "System information"-box.
Also flip over to the "Display 1"-tab and post everything in the "Device"-box.

If someone told you Starcraft 2 wouldn't run on your computer, then NS2 will likely not run on your computer.
