Last I checked, most people in the military had to be fit enough to carry loads of weapons and crap around. Nice job with that truck thing though.

Most armed forces snipers training is based on or in fact they were trained by the British Royal Marines snipers, as was teh irony in the falklands that the argentian snipers who were firing upon the british had been trained by american marines...who had been trained by the british marines

PS ~ that bottom image is a tad inaccurate, snipers work in pairs, the actual sniper would carry his rifle, binouclars a pistol and bayonet/clippers set, the m16 or whatever that is would be carried by his spotter who would also have the bincoculars and his equipment.

The 2nd rifle is possibly a backup but wouldnt be carried in the field, maybe in a truck or summat...

The SAS and the SBS are still the best special forces in the world.

The training is very, very hard.

And then if that doesn't scare you enough read Bravo Two Zero. What the author goe's through in the Iraqi camps doesn't bear thinking about.

Nice One with the truck though!

actualy the guy who was beaded and shot down was at 2400 meters and not moving, first shot shatterd the object in his hands, the second killed him, it was with an american 50.cal rifle so the snipers would not identify them selves (canadians are not aloud to shoot people with .50 cal while americans are).

Also Canadian soldiers are trained longer with less diffrent equipment, meaning they are better at what they do then lets say the american marines.. sure if you want to over run the place with a billion men who can sorta shoot send in the marines, want to take those now closed in marines out, call the canadian light inf.

The Israelies have the best special forces, they are so good you rarley even hear about them. As for that snipers gear, half of that would be carried by his partner known as a spotter, spotters carry an assault rifle and the binoculars and they proctect the sniper from close threats and also help him find and range targets.

I actually believe that the .50 Rifle is allowed to be used by any country, but only as an anti-material weapon, or as a self-defence measure, IE: Guy Downrange just sighted me and is pointing me out....

I also believe it's one of the weapons covered by international restriction, not just specific countries.

well the show i watched they said that he was in a truck.....it was the canadians in afganistan show. And the 50. cali rifle is not to be used against Nato abiding countries, since the terrorists dont abide by Nato they are allowed to use it on them. The Canadian sniper ON TV TOLD EVERYONE that he used the 50. cali sniper rifle on the terrorists so i guess its ALLOWED NOW!!.

Somehow, I feel the need to throw this out:

Ephesians 6:13

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

So meh....

If my memory serves me correctly (Not very often mind!)

The "Bloody Sunday" incident forced NATO to reconsider a few things.

One of them was the ammo size. The guns used by the paratroopers were 7.62 rounds. (Same ones that are used in AK's) These cause a little too much damage so NATO banned their use in small arms. (They changed it to the 5.56 NATO round)

At least I think thats right!

Speaking of special forces, the Australian SAS are probably one of, if not the, best Special Forces in the world. They were origionally trained by the Brit's and still are for some of their excercies. The Harsh Enviroment teams are insane They can survive in almost any enviroment, from arctic snow to desert scrub. Only thing is theres not all that many of them (Which can be good or bad). Honestly, these guys are sepectacular. Ill try to find some linkies soon...

I didn't know we even had snipers, the military funding up here is one of the lowest in the entire world. 3rd lowest in Nato, right above Iceland and some other country

EDIT: The Seals are pretty good, the JTF2 are semi good, I think

I'd say something since I probably know the most regarding this particular subject than anyone else here, but I'd rather see what people here know, or atleast think they know.

P.S. I can validly say that as I'm a trained Army Ranger; the best of the best.

Actually, the last time we discussed this, the discussion went straight to hell because of the sudden influx of foum newbies who voiced their opinions in such rapid succession that Christians such as mysef and Josiah Bartlett Couldn't keep up with the onslaught of aetheism. I personally stopped checking the thread shortly after teh trailer release, much for that exact reason.

Also, I've never had any moderator's PM or warn me for sticking up for my religion, in all my months of foruming here, so I think it's OK by their standards as long as I don't go as far as to incite massive creed bashing. Personally, if you get this offended by my quoting my Holy book, first I feel compelled to ask you why, and then I feel the need to ask you to not read them if you have such a violent reaction to them.

Anyway, I don't want to corrupt this thread with the bible, of all things, but go right ahead and PM me.

with all this "good against evil" crap Bush is pulling against Saddam I'm starting to really get peeved and organized religion. And now Bush wants to nuke Iraq or whatever the heck he said. he can shove it. nobody wins a nuclear war. or a holy one for that matter as we have seen in the middle east. i think if swear words arent aloud on the forums... religion should be snuffed too. Makes no sense to allow one nuisance and not the other.
