A love story

Boy and Girl are sitting in a meadow alone, the sun is setting and a gentle breeze calms the silence.
Boy: I really like you, in fact, I think I love you
Girl: I think I love you too
Boy: but our opinions on how building systems in NS2 should work are too different, I don't know if we can make this work
Girl: it's almost like we come from different worlds, you like holding E while looking at buildings, and I like actually playing the game
Boy: HEY! you know it's more than that, it's about suspense, feeling vulnerable, and risk slash reward. If you cannot respect my liking of that then this relationship will never work
Girl: okay, I'm sorry. I will respect your liking of holding down E [condescending tone]
Boy: *angry look*
Girl: but you have to respect that I don't like that building system, holding E is just not for me, you know?
Boy: alright, so we both prefer our own building systems, why not just mash them together? Let marines help MACs build and be able to build on their own?
Girl: I suppose that could work
Boy: yeah, so that?
Girl: wait no, simply letting marines build would leave too much to meta game
Boy: I'm not sure I understand
Girl: I may never have to build, per say, but teammates and commanders may still expect it of me, because they think it's better.
Boy: like how?
Girl: like if I go to secure a resource tower with a MAC and I'm sitting there defending while the MAC is building then the commander see me doing this and tells me to help the MAC build. Then what do I do? I either have to argue with my commander, or build, which you agreed to respect that I do not want to do.
Boy: oh
Girl: you see my point?
Boy: yeah, I guess that wouldn't really work *sigh* coming up with a compromise is not going to be as easy as I thought
Girl: well... how about this; marines can build but they have to buy a welder or some sort of specialization, maybe even sacrifice fire power for the ability to build?
Boy: uh yeah, I do-
Girl interrupting: wait no, that doesn't really solve the meta game thing now that I think about it
Boy: how doesn't it?
Girl: like, teammates and commanders might still tell and expect me to acquire these specializations because they think it's more effective overall.
Boy: true, true
moments pass as both contemplate options, trying to make their romance work
Girl: *stands up in excitement* I got it!
Boy: what?
Girl: it should be, that marines can only build in a certain situation
Boy: like what?
Girl: like if the MAC that was building is gone, for whatever reason
Boy: kind of like, they can only build as a last resort?
Girl: yeah, the NS1 marine building system would apply, but only if the MAC is dead, or gone
Boy: would marines build as fast as the MAC?
Girl: hm, no they should build a little slower, the MAC should still be the primary builder
Boy: I don't know if I like it
Girl: well if you look around there aren't any better ideas
Boy: that's true
Girl: with this system building for both MACs and marines would be in, and there wouldn't be any meta game fueled
arguments about what marines should be doing, it will be pretty straight forwards. If the MAC dies, then you finish building. Also, if the MAC is dead and your there, odds are you were just in an intense fight to kill the alien(s), I would be okay with a little building if it means I just got some action
Boy: my need for building and suspense might not be met as much as it was in NS1, but at least it will still be in the game, and this might be the only way to make our love work
Girl: so we agree that that is what we want?
Boy: agreed
Girl: I love you
Boy: I love you too
Boy and Girl take each other's hands and walk off into the sun set together.
The end.

Good idea! But maybe thats just me, who have not played enough of both to decide what is best, and when I decide, all I have to do is mod it.
you should add a tl;dr tho, everyone isnt reading this after 02:00.
Pre-order, Black Armor and Alpha release are totally Wrong, Awfull !!
Look at people, they are going crazy day by day.
God bless them.
Man I dont think that you have a GF. I wish you had a one and see the world from the scene of a woman.
lol
^^
On a serious note, not a bad way to include both.

C'mon guys, just use one of those already in use.

Making a new post because you have a new idea doesn't sound bad to me. I mean, at least its different.
Scott, I'm just saying. If you show your new idea here, all the arguments will start all over again. So like I said, it's easier to keep tracking if all of them were all together. =)
Just 'cause they have a feature doesn't mean they will use it in the manner you think they will.
I like MAC only building, but with all the talk about marines wanting to build, I thought it might prove useful to have a good compromise planned out. And since most of the threads are about which view point you support and why, I thought it would be nice to have one about a good compromise.
It's amazing, people act like if you have a vision NOTHING at all can possible change or get altered in it.. the ignorance around here is astounding. If this was the case would THEY ASK us for our opinions? Good grief...
But then, you know what happens when you open Pandoras box even a tiny little bit ;-)
@OP
Nice idea on how to bring your opinions to the masses. In "real live" the couple would have rage quitted , though ;-)Â

Optimistic they'd reach agreement before the sun went down :) I liked the story and agree with the sentiment.

aww :(
wait, why exactly?
I do like your creativity though :)
The girl was never intended to be pushy, i just ran the dialog from my head and gave to the lines to the characters that happened to be speaking.
Agreed. The ending would need some work though.
