<div class="IPBDescription">Where is everyone?</div>Where is everyone? I thought 6000+ players pre-ordered this alpha. Right now, late sunday afternoon, I count a total of 17. There are more servers then players. 42 SERVERS / 17 PLAYERS! :(

Most are waiting for the lag fix to continue playing/testing.

I noticed this too, but I attribute it to the fact that there isn't much game play to speak of. So there is a huge flurry of activity right after a new patch is released and then most people grow weary of a non-game after a few hours. For example, I only hop on for about 30 min a day and play a round or two.

Yup, too laggy on many aspects to play test, I mean.. play testing is cool but at that point. there must be work done by those who are working more on the game.

think all has been said, lag & hit registration are keeping me off the game atm. We tested enough, I reported alot of bugs, so before I go find new ones lets give em a chance to fix the current :p

I will prolly play more when I can shoot skulks, and they actually die. As of now, as long as you are moving you can't be hit.

Most people really have no intention of testing the game to find bugs, only reason beta's are liked is cause you normally have a fully functioning game which is just being polished up but there's not really that much you can do online atm.

Personally aint played online for a few days, will open the game and go LAN then try to break stuff for a bit then move on.

Your complaining about player numbers on server? - dude there isnt anything to play yet. It's more like a graphics engine test. It's too buggy to stay on for too long and do anything remotely different then simply go kill the other sides chair/hive.

game won't run on my comp :\ besides the loading screen.

As stated, there isn't really much to play test right now.

Once you see new features added and more gameplay elements added or improved, you will see a larger player base.

Right now, there is much else to do than play around in commander modes, attempt to kill someone of the opposing force or just end the round by rushing the hive/cc and ending it in about 3 minutes.

After the patch i spent a couple of hours on a server messing about with people.
then i put it away until a new patch comes out to test if the fixes have all worked properly etc.

I pre-ordered mainly because i loved NS and cant wait for NS2.. also wanted that kicking black armour.
Being in the alpha im happy to help. but its not like i signed up to specifically play the alpha for them.
i'll do my lil bit and help bugtest/playtest bits and pieces when they come out, But until the game nears beta stages where its almost finished you won't see me playing all that much.

Agree with the sentiments of this thread. It has made a huge difference since the newest patch in terms of connecting to servers, but the lag is just an absolute killer. It's impossible for me at the moment, as a marine, to kill a skulk when it's moving.

I am busy playing other stuff usually. I would be busy playing ns2 instead of those stuff if it was less glitchy however (as in I can hit the marines :S). Atm marines always win, all they have to do is research nade, and then aliens die. They can actually even hit aliens enough to kill 2 chewing on a rine that jump ontop of them inside an armory (heal + ammo + skulks dont move = 1/3 bullets hit?) before that.

    Atm though, I am sleeping.

The game in its current state is UNPLAYABLE.

I realize It's an alpha but it's hard to test something that does not work well.

The lag and hitboxes really make it unplayable, I can live with the low FPS.. but the lag is blah.

Once It's fixed I'll come back.

Everyone plays 30 minutes or so to try it out, then realize they need to wait for the lag to be fixed and don't play again. I'll play again after the next patch, but there really isn't anything else to test at the moment.

pretty much unplayable for me at the moment, i get very low framerates, waiting for the next patch..

ditto, to low frame rates to play

I played for about 10 minutes when the last patch came out, as it seems did most of the people on the server I joined. After a couple of minutes someone said "Yep, seen enough, I'll be back next patch" and most of the server agreed and promptly quit as well. I followed suit when it became clear that the game was still unplayable.

    Indeed.

When they fix the extremely bugged netcode or whatever is causing all that lag and ###### up the hitboxes, I'll play it again.

Also these forums used to be EXTREMELY active.

They have died down a lot recently.

Intolerable FPS, lag and hitboxes the size of peanuts. Yes it's an alpha, but there's no much we can do in it's current state, other than highlight the obvious issues that need fixing first. Once these main issues are fixed/reduced then I am sure server populations will pick up. But yes, at the moment it's a ghost town.

Lag, hitboxes fails and extremely low fps quit 90% of people from playing this game, that's why almost all servers are empty.

Most people are waiting for the 'lag' issue to be fixed. On all the servers I've tried playing, once you hit about 4 or 6 players, thigns start to lag. Of course, once u hit that many players more and more try to join, causing more and more lag.

So yeah, most people are waiting for this to be fixed before playing it more, because right now unless you play with just 4 people it's pretty unplayable.

Saying that, even with a bit of lag on 6 players, i've had a couple of 'proper' NS2 games which were very fun, and felt very similar to NS1. So, it's promising! :)

Slightly off-topic, I've found a fun mini game. You have to hide both as marine or alien, wait for people to pause to think for a few seconds, then ambush them if you want a kill. It's like a crazy stealth sci-fi game! That or get GL / Spores and aim at the floor.

    What he said.
You could try play and try gain grenade launcher + spores, but that is one hell of a spamfest and most likely end in server crash with the infinite explosion bug that occurs with grenade launcher + hive :P

Meh look at it as learning a map with any actual fights as a bonus.

There really isn't much game for us to be playing. It's not even really playtesting for bugs, since the game is so obviously riddled with them that a monkey could see it needs fixing. As it stands, it's not really a game so much as a nostalgic glimpse of what's to come.
