No idea why it's doing this.

Whenever I try adding a specular map to my image, it comes up with that error. All I do is make a new Channel layer that's called Alpha 1, then I copy my black and white image over and change the brightness of it.

I've done this with other images and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

What am I doing wrong here?

In photoshop, when you add a layer in the channel window, it is automatically an Alpha channel. Don't know which program you use, but you might want to make sure maybe, that you specify it is the Alpha channel rather than just another channel (that the builder might doesn't know what to do with)

Or try naming it Alpha (and not Alpha 1)

Just ideas, I really can't figure your problem.

I tried renaming it to Alpha instead of Alpha 1 and that didn't work.

Here, try downloading it and using the builder on it. I can't seem to get it to work...

I had this problem and fixed it by changing the color to RGB (was in grayscale for awhile)

Ah, When it say Unsupported file format, It actually means to say that your Image dimensions arent a Prime Factor of ...
Find the prime factors of: 4096 : 212

Meaning for that image the closest dimensions you should have used would be: 256x1024

    1+2+4+8+16+32+64+128+256+512+1024+2048+4096

Also the name of the 5th channel Does not matter.
Do Duplicate the red channel then Reduce the brightness fully -150 and the contrast +150 (Dont use legacy)

Thanks SgtBarlow! I'll try this out and hopefully it'll work.

    Edit: It didn't work .__.

It'll compile without the 5th channel in there, but when I add it in, it doesn't work.

You may need to turn on the option in Photoshop to maximize compatibility.

    Weard it worked my end.

I downloaded it and ran the builder and it didnt work, I opened it to find out why and saw the dimensions where (i think are) wrong, I altered the Canvas size to 256x1024 and it compiled after that.

Image mode was RGB - 8bit

I set the image size to 256x1024, copied the Red Channel and changed the brightness and contrast on it. I made sure I was in RGB color mode with 8bit selected.

I went to File > Save As > PSD with Maximize Compatibility selected. I ran the builder, and again, it did not work.

    Something is wrong here...

Can you try sending me a copy of yours SgtBarlow?

Resized it to 256x1024, like Barlow said, you absolutely have to that.

Flatten the layers, and lowered white level on the alpha channel. Everything looks and works good.

Flattening the image made it work.

    Thanks for your help guys!
