I like #6 for the swath of light-colored metal that comes over the right hand corner of it. Makes it look like the concept art for the Taser, and insecty. Good things in my book :)
its probably not likely...but i wish we culd start with start with pistol 6 at dmg lvl 1, and then move to pistol 1 with dmg lvl 2 and finally pistol 3 or 9 with dmg lvl 3. how awesome would that be to watch the transformation of your pistol into such a beast.
1 or 5 for me. All the others look way too boring, or 'regular' if you will. If I want to play a game with guns that look like 20th century guns, I'll play any generic wargame. There's a lot of them around these days. 1 has more of a futururistic look to it and 5 looks like a mini-uzi with laser-sight like someone else said earlier. It's just awesome.
Realism isn't a big issue for me since this is a fantasy sci-fi game. I play it for being a fantasy sci-fi game, not a real life simulator. (Though, I would argue that any of those designs could make sense for the future both practically and realistically since we have no idea what will -actually- be going on by then. Even if we have some well educated guesses anything is possible. Realism today is not realism in the future! That is the beauty of Sci-fi! ;) )
I like 3 and 6 the most, they are quite realistic and doesn't look like toys, 1 and 4 just look like those laser toys. However pistol 6 reminds me a bit of a FN Five Seven, so I would really like to see this one :).
Nr 9? As a sketch it loos like it belongs in laserquest(megazone) in the 80s? It's not like every marine is T.J. Lazer from Robocop or Dirty Harry either. The front of nr 3 is nice but nr 6 has to get my vote. It looks futuristic without going to far. Nr 7 is quite good to. I don't mind the handgun being less "manly" as we have the HMG in the other end. Okey I'm sounding like a dixk but wish you stuck with the original concept. Not your fault though. Community tosspots ;)

I like the 6+8+9 collage, but the shiny metal piece from 6 would really stand out in-game. Just look at the metal on the base of the infantry portal. It adds "polish". (yes a pun)
In melee fights, protecting your fingers is very important, which is why knives and swords have guards, sometimes very elaborate ones. While I'm not drawn to the design of #4 and #5 necessarily, and have no idea how you'd holster them, I really like the idea that the marines would have developed defensive enhancements for melee for basic tools like the pistol. I don't know if we'll be able to melee bash a skulk with our pistols, but I'd prefer not to lose fingers when I do so.
Voted 8. But would also take 9. What appeals to me about these two designs is the lack of transformation, I think it would contrast against the other, bigger and transforming weapons, and be a way to instantly convey that this is a simple weapon, and therefore a secondary firearm.
