The pistols with 2 versions are usually, as someone pointed out, an undeployed and deployed state (except for #1 which just shows how the bolt opens up on that design). In keeping with the theme of the structures which open up and "transform" the marine weapons do that as well. So they have a compact, version for transporting, and as soon as you pull it out sections expand and open. Not all of the designs are doing this, because there is very little room on a pistol for the mechanics involved with that, as well as there really isn't much point trying to make the smallest weapon even smaller.
Some of the extra tech stuff is there for gameplay, like needing to add a screen for the ammo counter, which no current pistols that I know of have.
Also, the machine gun, flamethrower, and shotgun have all been designed and made, so the pistol needs to work with the look of those, as well.
Thanks for the input. Im sad to see that 6 is not that popular..
Does that means that all weapons will have a readout instead of an indicator in the HUD? I kile that sort of thing, you just need to make sure you maintain readability through different resolutions.
I voted for 9. Good solid pistol. To pistol whip some Oni. So does this mean that the pistol will make it to the game and not the taser? I don't follow Twitter could some one fill me in?
Either #8 or #9 for me. I voted #9 because it looks more powerful, but #8 is more realistic for a secondary weapon. I'd be happy with either but I'd love to see #9 with #8's grip.
I'd rather base such a vote on the common angle in which players will see the weapon up close. This side profile is of lesser importance. I'd also like to compare it to the other weapons and the former pistol for influences. However, based on the look of these concepts, I like #3 the best, minus the angled arch on the top.
I like 9, but 4 influences me if you beef up the front section a tad like number 5.
*sniffle* I'm going to miss the taser? idea before even get to play with it!!
I hope you bring it in as an optional extra down the track, and sad to see the minority have swung the vote rather than the majority of "I'd like to see it in action"

Maybe they already coded the taser in and then you can buy it at the armory
I would like to see a combination of the front half of 6 and the back half of 8.
9 is just too bulky, looks like the NS1 pistol which I always felt was a bit too big and chunky, though I kinda like the shape of the front.
Edit: couldn't help myself: 6, 8, and the trigger guard from 9 cause I didn't really like the O ring on 8.
I like 8's grip most and the chunkier main body shapes.
So the grip of 8 on body of 9 camp gets my vote.
I also could go for the grip of 8 on the body of 1 with bottom half of the body streamlined abit at the front. On the proviso that the extended bit in the left of the two pictures for 1 is to show where you load it and not just some random sticky-outy bit that moves.
I was very happy with the idea of the taser. So I hope that's not getting scrapped. Why not just have a vote on new more pistol like taser designs?
For the sake of participating and giving feedback:
Voted #8 - It look's the most like a real gun. Only thing I don't like is how the trigger hole cuts into the grip. Makes it seem like the trigger is too far back to be comfortable to pull. If you look at DruBo's example picture you'll see that the trigger is always much more forward. Also the trigger hole usually should not cut into the grip if the clip is going to go in there.
I also like... #5 If there's going to be a secondary blunt attack then #5 would seem well suited for that. #1 except for the trigger hole being too big and too far back. #2 the opening animation on this one would make a cool Tasergun #3 Makes no sense that the canon itself extends forward.

That reminds me to the pistol designs for the upcoming game Bayonetta, which had a grip guard designed for melee combat.
I like #9 because it is both simple and beefy looking while still maintaining a fast-draw look. When swarmed by skulks, the last weapon I would want to have is a slow, heavy, and awkward pistol(#3-#5). #3-#5 don't even look like they can be holstered.

Let's hope UWE see this and take it on! I think it's a nice mix of all 3 designs and feels more fitting in design and form.
I voted for 9 :) It's, as FrostFire said, simple and nonetheless very cool looking. It's bulky front reminds of the desert eagle a little bit and makes the gun look as mighty. A little bigger grip (like the 8t's) would suit it better maybe. I don't like 4 adn 5 because they really look like tools/nailguns. 1-3 are a little bit too over the top sci-fi ->childish

i'll vote for that.

it clearly looks like a pistol

the grip is well proportioned; the others look to slim or not ergonomic

imho the best trigger guard

the trigger itself is ok, but I wouldn't mind if it was some of the others

it leaves enough room for a display, in a good visible angle towards the player

front looks as if it is shooting bullets, you wouldn't mistake it for a mini-shotgun, flaregun, mini-gl or pocket-laser

center of mass seems to be somewhere in the backpart; some of the others look like they will tilt over to the front any second

I almost feel that the 6+8+9 combo is a little too similar to every other pistol, but it does look nice and it gets my vote if I can't have the original "8" that I voted for! But anyway, I really hope that this does not mean that the taser is gone. It deserves some spotlight eh?

In that case I would argue that we need to see the machine, flamethrower, and shotgun in order to make an educated decision about the pistol ;)

9 is ok, but is also a little long.
8 looks like a real handgun, I wouldn't mind seeing it used in the game.
