<div class="IPBDescription">More customization, with tradeoffs</div>Hi
One thing I really like about Enemy Territory games is that they allow you to choose your weapons, all weapons are available from the start and neither is particularly overpowering. I think it would be nice if NS2 offered some (rather minor) weapon choices. I understand LMG is probably to remain as marines' basic weapon, so I picked pistols.
Basic pistol - like in NS1, all around decent weapon.
Machine Pistol - 50% bigger magazine, 50% worse accuracy. Good for short range combat, worse at distance than regular pistol.
"Magnum" pistol - 30% higher damage, 50% smaller magazine. Accuracy as regular pistol. Better for long range, but less reliable at short range. Requires good aim to be worth it.
---------
The numbers might need to be tweaked, but I think added customization options (which marines always lacked in NS1) would be nice. The intention is that neither pistol is clearly best, they all have pros and cons.
A shotgunner might choose one of more accurate pistols to make up for his weakness (long distance combat). Or take the machine pistol to play into his strengths and have a better close range weapon to switch to when his shotgun rounds run out. Similarly, a grenadier - who is at a disadvantage up close - might choose a specialised short range pistol as backup.

Customizing the pistol only does seem a bit silly.
Of course there's nothing wrong with having an alternative pistol, but the quality over quanity worked really well on NS1 marine weapons. I'd also like to avoid CS like situation where you've got 20+ guns of which maybe 5-10 get regular use apart from humour picks.

Ya that's not a pistol... The devs just traced this picture: <a href="http://www.tasers4me.com/images/taser-c2big.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.tasers4me.com/images/taser-c2big.jpg</a>
Anyways i see overall that knowone is appreciateing that taser crap... We mind as well keep discussing pistol ideas.
Because it's more then likely we'll be putting out some community-wide weapons pack mini-mod that all the cool servers will be running.
