I've been a big fan of NS since I first played it when 2.0 was released many years ago. A friend of mine had read a notice on the IRC, we decided to give it a try and expierenced the maybe best game I (personally) have ever played. The teaser looks even more than 'very promising'. <i>But I have a question...</i> I've already preordered the standard edition but would like to "upgrade" to the special edition, can this be done? How?
I think I'll end up waiting for someone on the other side of a door so I can just smash through it and roar at someone. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Yeah just hope that I'm not on the other side with my team having flamethrowers and MGs and wearing heavy armor <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Cheers for the reply, FMOD is pretty impressive, I have been fiddling with it for a while now, I'm really interested in checking out what you can come with sound-wise <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Just checked out the tracks on your myspace page too, I assume thats you... awesome ######!
Edit: Wow.. Violent Tendencies (WOW) Edit: Please tell me this is your work.. It is awesome.
So I've been a super long time lurker on these forums, never really finding anything worth posting (or I'd type a long wall of text out and then decide it's not necessary and delete the whole thing) but I just had to show my appreciation. I did pick up constie for support, I bought a mouse-pad, the special edition pre-order, and even Zen of Sudoku (which is also amazing by the way), but words express thanks more than money in my opinion. For a small team, you guys have done absolutely awe-inspiring work. I could see you guys topping Blizzard and Relic with the way you run things! Keep on plugging away, and thanks for making these past years awesome! You guys rock!

Sorry, no ha's in ns2. It's being replaced with something
@rammaj: it's a in-house engine called the 'Evolution Engine'
FMOD would be a suitable choice I have played around in it a bit and alot of big name games are implementing it now, plus its Aussie <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />.
I am also very interested in seeing what you can come up with sound wise, Looking forward to it.
First of all thanks for the awesome update and the trailer, it is a bit short, but it is concentrating all the awesomeness a trailer with a doubled length would ever have <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />.
About the Onos, as far as I can see it from the video, his feet look a bit strange and unpractical for movement, but thats all so far, it looks very different from the old one and I'm happy with the rest of the design, because it looks way more like something that can take some damage.
I hope some of us can use this as a example for a more constructive criticism.
I fully respect all the hard work the team (including all nieces and aunts and so on) did on this project and I'm happy to play this game (thanks god it's fall so I don't have to fail all my exams <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> )

ok man thanx for clearing things up and for the answear on the engine name
Yeah... I can't wait till it's released, but I really hoped they would've made the maps a little more interactive... I can understand that the flaps can't shake everytime an Onos roars near it. But I really hope there are things moving in the maps, not just the old 1.x style maps (although a lot of the maps were pretty impressive and some things moved, at least).
(Not that I've seen anything which would suggest that the maps weren't interactive... I just liked the flaps...)

Were the vents (or whatever those were) shaking as the Onos approached and rammed the door animated by hand, or was that the physics engine in action? Will we see things like that in game? Wires swinging and loose bits of metal shaking as an Onos runs by (or larger packs of smaller units)?
I remember someone asking about this before, so if this has already been answered could someone direct me to it?
Edit: Seem this has been answered already, and that it's not currently in-game. I suppose this post can be considered a suggestion now.
Edit 2: And why does the damn forum keep replacing line breaks with BRs every time I edit or quote anything?

This makes me think of a marine on a side hallway watching a Onos go buy with a lerk flying behind it above a fade and a skulk bouncing along taking up the rear.
All very funkydooda but I hope that I'll be able to disable all of it when I get tired of having my senses assaulted. In NS1, it was very difficult to remove certain sounds and we ended up having to wait for some know-it-all to do it for us. To this day, I cringe every time I hear the resource tower chugging noise. I recognise that atmosphere is very important to Natural-Selection, especially when concerning market sales, but I hope that you also recognise my sizeable minority by implementing a user-friendly way of disabling all the atmospheric extras. It'll also help make your game more accessible to people with low-end computers.
Next thing we know, you'll be patching NS2 with scent files so we can smell an onos coming. That or we'll actually feel skulks chomping our legs off!
I very much like the artwork so far and am a little bemused when people say that armour is unnatural looking when our world is full of armour-plated animals like the turtle, snail, crab and crocodile. In any case, I liked someone's suggestion that it may be an onos with carapace. Visual upgrade cues would be an attractive way of fulfilling an actual purpose rather than making things look 'cool', something that I fear people are too concerned with.
Awesome <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> very very very cool stuff man.. Do you come down to Melbourne much?

Hah I had that EXACT image, except... a bit later, a gorge plods by, rests it's head on the ground then shakes its head and takes off after them.
Can Ns2 have babblers please <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Glad to see NS2 is in the works..can't wait for the competitive scene of NS2....Keep up the good work you guys!! I just pre-ordered the special edition. Can't wait!
I really wish I would have known about this sooner...didn't know until the email was sent out.
I would have raced to be the first to pre-order. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Hopefully this gives me some of those good ol' 1.04 feelings. I really am hoping for some hour long plus, back and forth, teammate confidence gaining games.

Did anyone else find it absolutely hilarious that the door had "F4" on it?
Anyways I pre-ordered it myself now. I simply cannot wait for this! See you all in NS2.

hehe, I'm 48!
Been playing NS since the first version.
But i was quite disapointed there was nothing for constie guys...
I think an early access to alpha or something could have been great.
