Daymn, my brain hurts from listening to all that business stuff... whew! Wow great stuff though. I never understood how independent companies get their mula to make all their stuff. Business is fierce...

You could say stating the factual release date on april fools would be even more genius... way to ###### with your head.
Not to mention, this guy knows what he's talking about. Like he says, angels invest their hard earned money. He obviously believes in UWE... that should say something to everyone here and anyone looking forward to what UWE can do.

I also want to say I think it's cool that almost everyone in the room had played Natural Selection. It goes to show you how much NS2 has the potential to explode.
That was a short, but interesting little video (the case study on Unknown World only). Keep trucking guys, we all know NS2 is gonna be great <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Wow, cool to see a room of 300 people and only a few had not played NS 1. I think that probably pleased your investor <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
He said <b>Summer 2009</b>. Hard to get a better source than your angel.
You are so close, you can do it! I will be saving my $25 CDN now, hopefully that is enough for the exchange rate, to buy it off Steam and be telling the gaming communities I am involved in to save their spare change for this summer as well. Show this post to your investors if you need to.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Oh, and if you end up pitching your company to Matthew, please let him know you loved Natural Selection...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> ofcourse, thats the first sentence i always say when i get to know with new people
Very interesting, useful information if I go down the game develop route. just have to wait and see what lays in my path. Charlie if you were in that room, when everyone raised thier hands for playing NS1... Wonderful thoughts must of been roaming your mind.
Watch 32th min. He says NS2 will be in this Summer 2009. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> Nice !
That was very interesting, thank you for sharing. It was a great deal of knowledge to storage there, and it sounds like you got yourself a very good investor.
But I have one question, since I am not of English background it was a bit tough to pay attention to what he was saying. But to me it sounded like pitching a product would be very much a like pitching a company. What's the difference in investing in a company and investing in a product? Except for the fact that a company is a long term series of game developing. Will the investor(s) invest in future long term company assets or? And if its just a product you're pitching, will the investors invest in the entire game or? It sounds to me like if you can get an investor to invest "that" much money in future long term company assets, it would be easier to get the same investor(s) to invest in just the product, and the entire product at that. "We have the team, the plan, and the devotion, but we need an engine and the time to develop this great product."

It's not a long-term investment, the money generated from that one game is all the investor can profit from.
Investing in a company is investing for the long-term. You stand to make a profit from all money generated by that company (on all their games/products).
So if you extend that to UWE: if they license their <b>engine</b> as well as their <b>game</b> the investor who invested in the company gets profits from both (depending on the agreement), the investor who invested in the game gets the profit from only that one thing.

Very interesting talk, and one I'll probably look back on from time to time.
Finally got a chance to watch this, very interesting. Filled in a lot of blanks I had about how seed funding works. It would be great if this guy would come to my uni and do some lectures.

So, there's Angels.... where's the Demons?
Sounds like a good person to work with.
Well at least I can spread the word around here and get to be a part of this most likely sucessful game.
Either way, I'm preordering/buying the first moment I can.

but nevertheless, seriously, where the hell is the annual 1st-april-joke?
