Organized Play

Who hasn't tried it yet?
It's still happening, but most people probably don't know about it and don't even know where to look to find out. Is there anyone that hasn't tried organized play and wants to? Just curious.

PS: Really friendly community! lol

There is a steam group and sometimes we'll start pugs with events from that group. You can also hop on a Ventrilo server and play. If you've never played an organized game before, try spectating a round and if you find yourself lost, read some guides just so you learn the lingo. The Ventrilo server is vent2.gameservers.com port 4402 and the Steam group is invite only so ask around.

That is the general Natural Selection steam group, the group that plays nightly organized games can be found here: NSPickup. This is mostly a US based group, as we always play on US servers.

Even if you think you suck and just want to watch and listen in, hit someone up for the info.

There's one running at #ensl @ quakenet. Too bad its choking in the lack of players.

    Cool, lets revive it, tired of pubs <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

The learning curve between pub and competitive is too steep.

It worked before when there was many new teams making that learning curve, you would have someone to play against at your skill level.

If you tried that now... you would just rage quit when you found out that your fade can die by 3 shotgun shots by one marine.

There are quite a few gorge and capper roles in case you don't feel like getting owned by veterans. Quite often people learn the game surprisingly quick as long as they get to play with high skilled players.

Both good points. Some people will rage and some people will get better. It would be nicer if there were more people trying to make that leap from pub hero to comp nub. This is where I sigh and think about NS2. Couple NS1 updates would be nice, even if they were just tiny bugfixes.

The European eqvilient is more active than the US one, so if you live in europe goto the ensl website.

Someone add me to the NS group, I've been playing for god-knows how long and have been in a bunch of clans, I'd love an opportunity to play with non-retards.

I don't mean to nit-pick, but it is this elitist attitude that nearly killed the comp scene.

Just in case you're reading this and thought I was being serious when I said "friendly community" I was lying. Some people are friendly but uh, well put it this way: If 99% of the people were friendly, the few people that aren't more than make up for it.

You get this kind of elitism with every competitive scene. I'd be genuinely curious to see one that isn't elitist. Everyone in the scene now put up with it at some point, so it just takes that kind of person.

I've found the general atmosphere of ENSL to be extremely friendly.
