    Very good point.

    It's basically like saying: Taking drugs is bad, but drinking 5 gallons of coffee a day is a good thing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

Homicide had a good point. I was always a mouse wheel guy, and never really scripted. My mouse wheel up and down was bound to jump. So since every click of the mouse wheel sent a jump, three little clicks was the same as a 3jump script. I gently roll my mouse wheel to hit bhop jumps as soon as I touch the ground.

If pistol scripts were somehow disabled I would bind mwheel to +attack, and be able to fire one bullet for every click.

If you want to completely disable the mouse wheel, there are other solutions for inputing commands into the game as quickly as it will accept them. See, that's where the caps have to be in terms of game development. No matter what you set as the pistol rate of fire, or the rate the game accepts jump commands, people will reach it. It's just a matter of what trick they need to do to make it happen, and whether that player ultimately prefers employing it.

It's also entertaining that people are still talking about it.

mp_blockscripts was a stupid idea and a desperate attempt by the developers to please the vocal pubbers. It was, is, and will always be, a monumentally stupid thing to do. It solved nothing, created a huge rift in an already divided community, and was generally a bad idea.

i play cod and a good script was the zombie script.
screenshots+lowmaxpackets(read the CB rules for cvars limits) when u run, then return to 100 for shooting.
the very good garand script for PC with 300 fps + mpackets 100, very fast shooting.
the nice jumpscript for the cw nades.
i play also enemy territory in clan.
    the situation was worst.
    attack+sprint
    attack+zoom
    the fast turnback hack
fast switching for siring, pronehack script
    etcetc
    THE NETLIMITER USE for fake warp LOLLOL 92 ping and antilag made u immortal <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Pistol and 3Jump scripts are popular because they cover up some patchy implementation.

The Pistol RoF cap meant that it was now possible to click <i>too fast</i>. Some clicks would not be recognised as they were not queued or buffered by the game. So rather than learning the exact timing and rhythm of when the game will register a click as a shot fired many players turned to scripting.

The developers seemed to send out some mixed messages with regards to bunny hopping. On one hand they encourage it and say it's part of the game, yet on the other they fail to produce a user friendly implementation, such as the buffered or queued jumping (pressing jump in the air makes you jump instantly when you land) seen in games like CPMA and Warsow. So scripts and mousewheeling are used to fill in the gaps again.
