Congratz guys! It's great to see UW having some well deserved success after following your development over the last few years.

So have you already hired all the artists you want or is there some open space at this new office?

Congratulations! It's just awesome what you've accomplished so far; I look forward to seeing what you can do with this economic injection.

There's not a more deserving dev group out there, IMHO.

Agreed, I am really happy for UW and our chances of playing NS2 just got better <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I would see this more as they have secured more res nodes and more players just logged on to the server!

Congrats! Here's a toast to good gameplay and a lack of griefers!

sounds like you got some good investors/ advisers. In my experience of trusties and boardmembers that arnt excatly the same, they either seem to interfeer too much or loose interest and leave all the responsiblity on the company director. It can be quite difficult to get rid of a bad set of boardmembers/trusties and get in new ones, so having good investors and supports is awsome.

You guys kept mentioning big things you were about to announce; was this it? I have to admit, I'm not all too interested in the business side of things, but seeing you guys become a solid company is incredible.

As long as we don't have to play in the same league of be-patient like the Duke Nukem fans, everything is alright <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

    Honestly, congratulations!

    Greatest news evar!

I've been reading your blog and I'm planning on educating myself in becoming a game-designer, and honestly I mean,
you get to make your own company and make your game complete, that just have to be awesome.
I'm very happy for you and I hope you'll share more information about how things have gone since the last real game-blog ^^
    For example all those "glowies" of yours <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I think the Duke Nukem guys are in a league of their own as far as patience goes! I smell another Daikatana or Phantom console with that one...

Oh and congratulations on the investment, we all kept the faith and knew you could do it! I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying we can't wait to see what happens next! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I don't want to discourage you or spoil your happyness but you should do some research on Internet. You'll have some opinions on the good things and unfortunatly the bad things of this kind of career.

    In the mean time. Congratulations!

    I have a question :
1 : Is the investor have a 'right to oversee' your work or is it like a share on benefits ?
2 : Do you still intend to buy some maps from the comunity or hire some dedicated people ? or both ? Same for textrure / models etc...

    Thanks for your answers.
  • TriggermanTriggerman Graphic Artist Join Date: 2004-11-10 Member: 32724Members, WC 2013 - Supporter
Uhm, wasn't asking for opinions really UncleCrunch, I'm not gonna look back and take another course now that I have <i>finally </i> decided on something I want to study for.
Besides, I wouldn't want to do a boring job in design, game-design seems in my opinion to be the most "open" one of the designing alternatives and probably the most fun.

Whether people get bad payment, abused or whatever doesn't really matter all that much to me at this point, I'm young (and probably naive). Thanks for that GameCareerGuide though, I'll take a peek at that.

    I second that
"2 : Do you still intend to buy some maps from the comunity or hire some dedicated people ? or both ? Same for textrure / models etc..." aswell, seems like a good question.

Well i dont have any money but heres my advise. Dont go to consoles or make ns2 for console, Look at EPIC and UT3 ... so much failure.
