i told myself, no new computer till NS2

    i got bored of waiting. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

bought new computer and now playing HL2 single player and an awesome mod called Insurgency

and as soon as my downloads finish i'm also going to try Bioshock, COD4, Crysis and collin mcraee DIRT

somtimes i wonder if the devs, will only bring NS2 out, once they see, no one is playing the small amout of servers left.

somtimes i wonder if married life, for devs has had a slowdown effect for making it happen, I want to blame their wives <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />

NS is much more important than mowing lawns or doing the dishes.

    ow well

    NS CLASSIC FOREVER !!!

    i still play on G4B2S and BAD and jiggly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" />

It's fun at first but then you get the hardcore elitist whiners that play it all seriously, bit like how NS was/is/has gone. When new official maps come it may pick up and bring in a new more fun playerbase.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I doubt it. They're adding achievement based unlockables, and I can smell in the future an online leveling program to go with it. It would not suprise me if it turned into a 3rd person MMORPG. Face it, TF2, is serious. business.

I still play NS but I'm a nobody.

It's okay. That's never going to happen, keep living up the dreams of a TF2 MMORPG and the denial that the TF2 community is anything less than fascist kiddies.

Eh, I used to play for hours a day since the launch date in 2002, but I've only popped into games about 50 times in the last 2.5 years. Sadly, NS got long in the tooth, and it is dead to me.

There was a time when I wished that the 1337 kids would get lost, but then, I found myself wondering if they would ever come back. Playing with co_ minded players isn't very fun.

I'm playing SupCom and EVE Online nowadays.

I started playing NS when the hives used to be 80 res, I believe... Played on and off since then. I like how the game has become a lot more accessible to the new gamer, but at the same time, dislike some of the changes that are being made. For instance, really disliked the new DC heal system implemented in 3.1 (which was reverted on the server that I play on).

I'm still a horrible player, but, even now, it's still the best mod for GoldSrc around, and that's what brings me back to it. Unfortunately, since moving to a mac (yeah, don't diss the macs, please >.>), only option to play windows games is bootcamp. Apple's X11 server sucks, improperly compiled openGL lib. So no darwine'ing of steam to play. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

    Still, I'm looking forward to NS2... whenever it comes out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I've been playing since 02. Was playing back with VanFenix, Deathhawk, etc with clan "Storm Troopers of Death". under the name of STD-ScOoBy}.

I run NSA <a href="http://www.nsarmslab.com/phpbb" target="_blank">http://www.nsarmslab.com/phpbb</a> which is currently under re-development for a more tournament based approach.

I miss the old CAL days. But every Sunday night - we have amazing classic matches on our 18 man 100 tick server. Alot of the old vets are active and usually on our ventrilo server.

It will be sad the day that NS1 finally goes down. I hope NS2 get's completed soon. Or at least a good playable version.

    Ren

P.S. Those of you "planning" things for NS2 - You are the best and keep up the great work! I wish I had your talent in that regard. I can barely draw a straight line, let alone a texture.

I don't play NS much anymore, but I still check on forums frequently for NS2 updates. I did play in CAL-NS for a bit which was the most fun I had out of NS.

NS, although a little old now, remains one of my favorite games. After having not played for so long, my aim sucks now and the changes they made to fade blinking caused my fading skill to go from 10 to 0.

    Not that i'm an amazing fade, just that I don't know how to use blink properly anymore <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Yeah, NS was such an awesome game. I remember playing weekends all day long with games lasting up to 4 hours or so. It was such a cool idea.
But then the balance changes started and it started to suck so much. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

I am really amazed why as of today no other game has used the gameplay style of NS... I mean the start was so awesome, the patches just ######ed it up badly.

I totally agree. I am not a big fan of the patches. Although we have to live with them. I liked the old days back with hive limiters. Now the patches are hurting the community. That is the smaller games. In a 4 vs 4 game. Aliens can obtain res fairly quickly and onos rush. A quick hit to the arms lab and there's no way that marines will be able to take out that onos unless they have jetpacks. But even then. The loss is too great for marines to recover. Hive limiters were great.

Played NS since the very beginning. Stopped playing (regularly) around version 2.0 because of changes in the game, my studies and working on a indie post-apo cRPG project. Never stopped to be interested in NS, so I've tried to be up to date with the news. Started to play a bit recently (from the day I reregistered on this forum), but don't have much time for games unfortunately (studies, part-time work). At least I've got some time to hang around on the forums a bit!

I upgraded to a new computer, able to play new games at max settings and still find myself playing from time to time. I didn't think I would, but it still has appeal. Too bad all american leagues died off.

I recently started playing again and forgot how much fun it was. I remember playing back since the pre steam days and how different it was then compared to now. It is still fun though especially with all the classic maps revamped.

What is happening is the people you know are leave (and people coming in and replacing them). It is all because of age groups, people just starting sophomore year (grade 11) are not starting college and with this they have less time. Also girlfriends, wanting to do more in their studies also complicates it. People are loosing interest and people are gaining interests. It is just for people like most of us (1.04 vets and people that have been here from the start) do have obstacles at time that prevent us from playing as we would like.

I for one have had less playing time. Two years ago when I started to play I was in 9th grade and recently left the CAL-m scene because I felt my friend were more important. I was not a very book studying person (with leaving computer related things easy for me though) so my GPA idled around 80. As time moved on and I kept playing NS getting better and better the summer of 9th grade was coming up and I was in my "prime" where I joined cri (a veteran team at the time) and most of that summer was spent with NS/friends. 10th grade rolled around and I ended up playing more and more ns until about December in what I called "The beginning of the end" of me playing NS. I became a well known figure in the community not for skill though, because of my antics. I then started to go out with my girlfriend (and still am) in January in which I pretty much stopped playing NS. This of course was until I started a clan that did not last long but sure left a mark (with drama of course). By then I was playing ns about an hour a week and that was scrims. This was because I tried to move my GPA up more and started a college programming class that I got accepted into (which I finished with a 3.0 GPA being third in the class) and my girlfriend. Don't get me wrong, I still had a lot of interest in NS and did try and squeeze in whatever playing time I could and ended up getting my infamous "0-13" score with my connection dieing on me. Then I was approached by WiredLabs (and AmpedNews) Sypher to start and lead their Natural Selection division. This ended up being a big hit but slowly died after I left (and is not starting to come back again). Now, I play NS when I have the free time while having it squeezed in with helping my mother from time to time (who has about four disease including things that cause her to have seizures and is still diagnosed with chronic alcoholism so that doesn't help when she takes her medicine), girlfriend and school. Also including my passion for computer programming as I will have about one year of Computer Science done (9 out of 12 credits) and still on other free time learn PHP/Flash MX 2004 as a hobby. However, even though their is other things that I do I was here from the start of the community and will be with it till its untimely death.

This is just an example of one persons time restraints pushing him away from NS but yet, being him back now. This happens to many people and I am sure has happen to a few people in this Playtester group.
