Who still plays ns?

RaBbiT-RaBbiT- Join Date: 2008-01-01 Member: 63315Members
i'm talking about those guys who played 3-4 years ago, or atleast 1-2 years ago when CAL-NS was still around, i saw enigma still lurking around these forums, but i'd like to know who else still plays this game, cause I just installed it once again.

Hey, just getting back into NS myself, used to play way back when.
You've probably played on Fusion Voice / Frag Area, I used to be one of the 3 owners of that gaming community. Welcome back! Tactics have changed a lot since then.

    /rage quit

Most players moved on to TF2/WoW or just college, but there are a bunch of people here in comedy option vent. Right now I see:
toshax drfurious enigma keyse makaveli dante steve milo (not an exhaustive list) still dominate bad/guns once in a while.

Slowly but surely getting back into it. I miss the times when the community was thriving and CAL had 2 divisions. Its hard to believe there were that many players and now... well I dont know what happened.

I haven't played more than a few hours since before CAL-NS went down, but I still keep an idle eye on the forums and am considering returning, if I have the time. Fangskie being back with nsRadio makes me want to dj again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

After I wipe this damn computer of mine I'm going to get IRC running again (it hasn't worked for months and I've been too busy/lazy to fix it) and I'll see you guys in there.

What he said. Only reason I haven't installed is because I piss about with mapping some times when I'm bored.

No not really. It's fun at first but then you get the hardcore elitist whiners that play it all seriously, bit like how NS was/is/has gone. When new official maps come it may pick up and bring in a new more fun playerbase.

Don't play it anymore (it has changed to much from what is was and from what I liked), but still have it installed to mess around with maps (mario textures from NES are now on my hdd, don't ask <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> ). Or I just simply walk around in some maps and think back to when I actually played the game

TF2 can only entertain me for about 1 hour or in rare cases 2... I'm on COH:OF and FH2 (well FH2 is on pause, I'm bored with the desert maps)

Heh and I even installed the ancient Action Half-Life to have some stunting and blasting fun with 2 or 3 other people I usually play Mplayer games with <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I don't think I'll be comming back to playing NS...

I think you will see that a lot of people that have been playing for a while still play. There is a still a lot of regulars on the BAD/G4B2S and YO servers. Even besides that I still see new players on servers every once in a while.

NS was the best mod there was in 2002, IMO. It was far better than Firearms, Sven Co-op, maybe not as good as Day Of Defeat, but I fondly remember the good times when playing NS. The sheer diversity of each game being different to the last, fancy graphics and teamwork-orientated gaming was so much fun.

Over the years the "Combat" gametype was introduced to try and bring in more casual gamers like those haunting Counter-Strike servers. At this point I predicted, and was correct in that NS was dumbed down as most people associated NS with Combat then the original gametype. I was publically slaughtered by the devs at this prediction, but now all you need to do is search to see the ratio of Combat vs Original servers.

I hope NS2 brings as much fun to multiplayer gaming than the original did.

I play NS since 1.04, for ages so.
    I still enjoy playing the mod, but I'm still a bad player. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

hehe back when I actually played I sometimes got distracted when I saw something awesome in a maps design (brushword/texturing/lighting), I just had to figure out how it was done. As a result I hovered around that area just looking at the level design while being called a bad player <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Also the actual artwork, sound design and mapping is what lured me into this game. I'm still amazed at what they achieved with goldSRC. Even though the maps were more atmospheric back then <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Hehe yeah, I like to stare at the map design of NS maps, like ns_machina for example. I'm speechless when I play this map, everything is so impressive. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
