Great film, loved every bit of it. It's going to suck on DVD since you won't have that roaring theater bass which added a lot of the atmosphere.

I don't like the fact that everyone died, and most in stupid ways. Like Hud for example:

You mean to tell me that after (crash) landing in the wide open central park and looking around, the monster somehow sneaks up right on top of Hud to eat him? Marlena exploding was cool, but had no reason as to why... and that's a bad death.

Lilly doesn't die. And Marlena's death doesn't need to be explained, it was well timed. And it was lame that Hud died. I loved him. Also, Rob and Beth may not have died. They didn't nuke the city, it was just a bomb. The camera would be gone if they were, unless the whole bridge collapses on top of them and killed them that way. But I doubt that a few rocks could protect the camera from what would kill two people huddled under cover.

Well, there were bits where they stopped and rewound, then fast forwarded. That's how the bits of the video of the Coney Island visit poked through. Had to be tape, not flash.

At the very start of the movie it said something like "recovered SD card"... I think. I can't wait for the DVD. There's a whole bunch of stuff I missed, like the UFO dropping into the water in the last Coney Island shot (apparently).

I missed that too, I guess it's pretty easy to if you're not looking for it.

And it's supposed to be a satellite that awakens the monster. Abbrams said the monster isn't an alien, but that it's from Earth.

wow so apparently, after reading a bunch of websites, this is a really contrived movie.

Japanese Slushy company finds super cool new kawaii ingredient for their slushies. (Slusho) So they work out an agreement with some japanese drilling company to recover the new super kawaii ingredient which so happens to be at the bottom of the ocean. So when a satellite crashes into the oceans it awakens cloverfield who is apparently a disgruntled baby thing.

    Wow. No.

Actually, on the last scene when the final explosion occurs you can see a huge red stain go everywhere including the camera lens. I think it's pretty clear they died.

I think Rob may be the new VP of Slusho. I just peeked in on Cloverfield from the projection booth at work and Rob's brother was wearing a Slusho t-shirt.

Free swag swiped from Rob, I think so.
