<div class="IPBDescription">It's mysterious!</div><a href="http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/medium.html" target="_blank">http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/medium.html</a>
No title, no plot, no nada. It has me intrigued though, awful CG right now though.
Here's a Wiki page on it; but it doesn't say anything really:
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield</a>
Someone from another forum I frequent says people think it's related to Lovecraft and Cthulhu, it might just be one bad-ass Godzilla flick. I don't know, but it's got me wondering.

sooo mysteeeeery~oooous
Because it wasn't remade a few years ago already.
- Shockwave
I dread Hollywood finally deciding how they're going to pillage the corpse of H.P.Lovecraft. It's only a matter of time, too.

There's already a Cthulhu movie made, but it was actually made by fans and relatively low budget. Haven't seen it. Dagon was good, too.

I wonder if Superman could beat up Azathoth.
Simple theory of how to make Cthulu rise in a film.
Either:
1. Don't make it.
2. Don't have him rise.
3. If you must do 1 and 2, be aware that if Cthulu is in ANY WAY stopped, you've missed the point.
I'd prefer to see a film about Hastur as the King in Yellow.
- Shockwave
It's too bad Hollywood would never do an apocalyptic film of Ctlulhu using his transmission powers to drive the majority of humanity insane as the coming before his rise.

That real time clip with the sound reduction is fuggin' freaky...
the "Bad Robot" production company is also the company that produced Lost.
Take that all as you will. I take it to mean that this movie is going to have eerie, mysterious things happening for 2 hours, and leave most of its questions unanswered at the end <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
No wait, that did nothing...

That's been confirmed as a VIRAL marketing for 1-18-08/Cloverfield. But what makes it special? Look what someone posted:
The 1-18-08 mystery, and what the movie is all about has been solved.
If you look at the trailer and the images like the one I have posted, you can see the number 3 being referenced to everywhere. The 63 degrees on the news channel, The 12:36, the 2004 ACE, numbers that are all dividable by 3.
Last, but not least, you hear the thundering monster sound three times, each sound accompanied by a different event.
Romans 1:18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness"
So what in biblical mythology has connections to the slew of references in the trailer? The three great monsters.
In Jewish belief, Behemoth is the primal unconquerable monster of the land, as Leviathan is the primal monster of the waters of the sea and Ziz the primordial monster of the sky.
1) The first monster roar is accompanied by an earthquake (Behemoth)
2) The second monster roar is accompanied by a huge fireball (Leviathan, for it can breathe fire)
3) The third monster roar is accompanied by the flying Statue of Liberty head (Ziz).
Not convinced?
The guy who says "maybe we can get a better view from the roof" has the Slusho logo on his shirt. Slusho is a classic J.J. Abrams icon, and it has appeared in both Alias and Lost, which are his shows.
Slusho.jp has, by now, been confirmed as a part of the viral marketing campaign revolving around 1-18-08. Japan. Strangely enough, the character Rob, who is present in the trailer, was gonna fly to Japan a day after that party and the monster events.
Let's have a look around on that site. Not all pages are accessible. But there is an odd feature about the pages that are available. The main page background is on land, the Downloads page background is on air, and the History page background is on sea.
Furthermore, the six buttons on the main page cause popups of various animals, namely a Horse, a Whale and a Bird. Behemoth, Leviathan, Ziz.
GG, J.J. Abrams.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Also the people running and screaming only talk about 1 monster. The "3" thing seems like a pretty big stretch as well.
Well, if you did all the puzzles on their website you are told there will be an update august 1st, so I guess Ill wait until then.
...probably why I love Shadow of the Colossus...
Hooray for viral marketing, a bit of mystery is much better than an IN YOUR FACE advert telling you something is gonna be good.
No, but I can just imagine Cthulu (wearing a Turban, possibly) being driven back by U.S troops firing rockets with American Flags wrapped around them already.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
They'll probably just upload a virus into his brain. Then he'll fall over and become impaled on a structure which is both very pointy and very American, probably either the Washington monument or the Empire state building.
I think this movie needs to be made.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->So there's still hope, yes!
But in the trailer, between 1:34 and 1:36, theres this crazy jumping guy. He litterally just comes out of the air.

That's really weird.
MAYBE HE'S A SUPER HERO
Someone from the NMRIH forums pointed this out:

Seems like he is being thrown away because of the blast. But I honestly don't know. It could be "the guy"
[EDIT] Watching the trailer really closly, it seems that the guy is trying to escape from the head of the statue of liberty falling down, so he tries to get to the sidewalk by jump onto the hood of the car and then jumping again onto the sidewalk, from the camera angle it seems as if he is coming from the air, but with that hood giving him that extra height, it could be plausible that he is just a regular person trying to run away.
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g256/cerberus414/1-18-08.jpg" border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
You can see him at 1:35 into the trailer
On the side note: the sound "that" thing makes gives me creeps.
It's not really Cthulu's style though, is it? He's more of a "make you go insane" guy than a "blow up the statue of liberty" guy.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That would certainly drive the National Park Service pretty mad, though.
That reminds me about what everyone was saying just before the 3rd Matrix movie came out. People were finding all sorts of references to even guess the 3rd movie would be about Trinity and Neo having a child.
Althought I haven't been able to look at that clip, I am highly intrigued about what this is all about. I was disapointed by the last 20 years of monster disaster movies. So I would hope that by now, with all technology available that they would make a good movie this time AND with a decent story dialog (I know that the American Godzilla version was highly CGI based but boy,man, did the story and dialog sucked).
So keep it up guys !
