    I'm going to assume that you'd never be so cheap as to heavily downscale a picture just to make it harder to recognize, so it's probably from some handheld.

    Correct.

    Honestly, I am rather surprised no one has gotten this yet. Any one who has played the game will recognize it (The crystal in the center is kinda iconic for it), and it is a rather well known game.

    ... among handheld gamers. While this IS a game-related forum, we're not smack in the center of the handheld gamer demography. I don't think I've ever even seen a DS or PSP "live" (aside from in shops).
