<div class="IPBDescription">...wow! (also I drew something)</div>Just finished reading the last (I think) Transmetropolitan (60th?).
Started reading them after Tycho fra Off topic showed it in a thread about comics and then later in his "pick my assignment" thread. Was lucky that a friend of mine had them all stacked.
Looked good and was amazed when I got into it. I never really read comics a lot, but TMP really took me in. I couldn't stop flipping pages.

I say to you all, it is awesome! I won't start reviewing it, because I can't think of the right way to explain it. Tycho might come and present it, if he drops by?
I think I need to re-read them to get all of the details.

Didn't feel like reviving the comics thread, sue me.

Also, I drew a picture, like a little rushed. Not some big masterpiece but thought I would stick it in, just for the hell of it.
forgot which issue I referenced (strongly) from.

(He's wearing a hat, one of those the founding fathers wore - not sure if I am correct on that one - NOT an afro)
It is not really a typical Jerusalem costume but I liked his expression.

But really, Transmetropolitan. A must read in my opinion <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> (beware: A great deal of swearing, and explicit content).
Any other readers?

    y helo thar thread

    <img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/43/Transmetropolitan_2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Transmetropolitan is an (awesome) comic about a gonzo journalist named Spider Jerusalem, set in the future. It chronicles Spider's exploits as he writes his column in the newspaper (or the future's equivalent) and works on a couple books that he owes his old editor. It touches on like a million different plots and topics, and it sometimes hits pretty hard, but it's always incredibly hilarious. The art is well done too. It's sort of like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas meets Snow Crash meets everything you've ever loved, in comic form. Patrick Stewart likes it and would be a perfect Spider Jerusalem if they ever made a movie.

Nice drawing btw. That does not look like a hat the Founding Fathers wore, though. More like Lincoln's stovepipe or something.

Transmetropolitan is my favourite comic of all time. I also believe that drawing's reference is from when he was in full swing of hatred of that presidential elector and he was naked with a Lincoln hat and beard.

I've read some of these and I quite liked it as well. I only got to the point where Spider's drug abuse was starting to show it's really nasty side effects - which isn't far at all I believe. Course, I'm not sure how many "volumes" or books there are of this title.

That should kinda get a spoiler tag as you are actually closing in on the end (only 2 or 3 arcs after that).

And yus, that is Spider as Lincoln, I can't remember where it is exactly, but he has a bandoleer of grenades strapped to his chest (I believe it is at the election party)

Oh, and yus. I just finished rereading Transmet for the 3rd time. One of the greatest stories ever.

Parallels between it and real life are there, and obvious. However at the same time they are hidden behind dog culling, drug induced, rages.

    all in all, it is a wonderful read <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

you could change that to #1 and the answer would still be yes.

I wish I was at #30... But re-reading it is a joy. You catch so many things you didn't see the first time around.

I see I, ehm, "have access to" (<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />) a digitized version of it in a pdf-like format (.cbz, comic book archive), but I can't imagine trying to get into a comic book (or a real book for that matter) by reading it off a CRT/LCD screen.

has anyone made the effort to read a full comic series (or ebook) on their PC monitors?

did you guys read the paperback versions or the actual comics? (If you read them in comic form, where did you buy/rent them from?)

I read 90% of Transmet on my computer screen. Why? Because I don't have any room for books in my dorm at my university. Books just take up space. I found it perfectly easy to read. CDisplayEX is my program of choice.

I read Transmet on my pc. I use a program called ComicRack to view it (It's in a similar format to the one you specified). I would like to get hard copies of it some day, just don't have the room in my room at the present time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Hah, apparently, not everyone loves Transmet.

I'd already read the comics before this incident today.

So, I go to my local comic shop/D&D-freak-house, and start browsing the comic books. Really, I had gone in there to see if they carried any WH40k novels, which they didn't, but I figured I'd browse a bit and see what was on the market.

So, they have all the Transmet comics there, and I was like, 'Dude, how come these aren't sold out? They're the best comic book in the universe.' The shopkeeper gives me one of those GM-type snorts and says, 'You obviously don't know good comics. Those suck, all they're about is ###### and violence.'

    I walked out.

Well, that's one of the more ignorant statements I've ever read. I usually hate it when people try to "read into stuff" too much, but if all that guy got from Transmet was "#####(poo?) and violence" then he really needs to listen to the chair leg of truth:

Negative Chimp, he needs to "Trust the ****head"

However, yes. Any one that only got ###### and Violence out of Transmet doesn't really understand wth is going on <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
