<div class="IPBDescription">Speakers make a noise every time I change resolution</div>Has anyone ever encountered this annoyance before?

Every time my display changes resolution (such as starting/quitting a game) my speakers make a medium loud noise for a moment. I don't know exactly how long it's been going on, but it just recently started to bug me.

I can't seem to find the right google search to find others with the same problem.

Suggestions?

Eh, from what I've noticed, older soundcards (actual age, not technology age.) seem to do this lots. My old soundblaster used to do it and was even so bad as to have whitenoise pumping through the headphones/speakers when volume was up.

Fixed it by buying a new card :\

It seems to be a windows software/driver problem though. I forgot to mention it only does this AFTER windows has fully booted. And if I hit the "Mute All" checkbox in the volume controls, then the sound doesn't happen on resolution change. Although if I mute every volume slider except the master slider, the sound still happens.

My built in soundcard picks up all sorts of interference from other processes happening. Usually its not noticable with speakers - but with headphones I can hear the interference from my mouse moving.

    I like to think of it as hearing your computer think <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Sounds like a interference problem, look for any kinds of shorts and try reseating your sound card. Cleaning dust off and wiping off the terminals with rubbing alcohol (let dry) might fix it too.

Muting the CD volume helped kill the mouse moving sound for me.
