<div class="IPBDescription">think of the possibilities!</div>I was wondering if it would be possible to have garry's mod support in ns2 ? i know its a bit different seeing as its not a mod but imagine what you could do with it-

machinema's , comics, screenshots etc

you could even have a illustrated novel or whatever they are called about the ns story/background - the 6 days in Sanjii
not to mention what could be done with tutorials & tips

I think Garry would have to add support for NS2, not the other way around.

This is true, GMOD has contents of most Source games ported, you just have to download it.

So yea, you will be able to create things on gmod with ns stuff

It would need two things - UW to agree to make the content available to gMod via Steam (Basically, gMod downloads part of the caches for each game it has model support of. You need to have the original game though, so if you had gMod and not NS2 then you couldn't use NS2 content) and Garry to implement the appropriate menus. It's a simple enough thing to do, it's simply a matter of if people want it.

Failing that it's always possible to manually extract all the models and content from the GCF and dump them into the gMod folders, then create your own menus for them.

So [i have never used it BTW], with "GarysMod" you cannot simple import models and maps, then use his software to make a movie? You need to actually have support from other mods? I don't care about the legal issues, I don't imagine anyone would be trying to make money off of NS <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" /> But his mod needs like part of the code for NS or something, just to make movies?

You can import your own models and maps but to get them from a retail game you'd need to obtain them quasi-illegally (illegal if you share what you obtain) or have support from the retail game/Garry's Mod/both.

Garry's mod 10 automatically imports any source model or prop, anyway.

Personnely i hate the GMOD10 community, the admins on there forums suck, they think there pro's at what they do (which isn't much) and they think they're better than the other people who play...

For god's sake's i would love it if the NS2 team put exclusive rights to all there content so no one else can touch it... just for spite...

No it doesn't you have to do that yourself by copying the materials and models into the correct folders.

Don't think anytime should be spent even thinking about this. I believe everyone would agree that it is more important to work on NS2 and get it out for the world to love, and love, and well you get the idea. If they want more publicity couple weeks after release they can get with garry and do something so people make comics and place the all over the internet. garry is also a Lua coder so never know what they could think up. However, NS2 comes first.

Well yeah of course. I think what we are all hoping for though is a little while after, they could do this. At first noone will care, we will all be playing it out online. But after a short time were going to want to make some great stuff with it. People will be making Youtube recordings, new skin packs will be released, all will happen and gary's mod, whether he's a sellout or whatever would add some really cool stuff for the players to do. Imagine comics done for NS2? There is a HL2 comic done about a guy called Gordon Frohman or somn... it's hella funny. I actually read them all, well done. Anyways, I would rather they make a great game first, but I do hope after a shile they add support, or get support or ask for support/whatever for NS2!
