Not everyone on the sex offender registry has been sentanced to jailtime. Also, you can get put on the registry for really lame things, such as streaking.
    *The more you know*

Xyth is on the ball here. Most of these registered offenders pose no threat to anybody; they just drank a lil' too much and got caught donating some liquid gold to the skeezy side of a dumpster or something.

    oO For streaking <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

Maybe my understanding of the term streaking is wrong.
    Care to explain?

Also, depending on where you live and the situation, consensual sex between people under the age of consent (which is different in each state) can get you registered as a sex offender when in another state itw oudl have been perfectly legal. I'll leave the morals up to you, of course.

Hahaha. The internet has hit a new low. The "I've got more sex offenders living near me" competition.

We should call it the "Perv proximity" award.

How exactly does that make you a sex offender? Not that I'm saying it's a good thing to do, it just doesn't seem... Sex Offend-ish at all.

In fact, I'd rather not know the link between said liquid gold and Sex Offense, it looks sort of twisted.

showing some one else anything 'indecent' (flashing) makes you a sex offender. The reason WHY is b/c there ARE sex offenders out there that all they want to do is make people look at them.

So basically if some one catches a peek at your johnson, they treat it the same as if you walk up to some one in the mall with the traditional trench coat and nothing else.

    As a random note, my area is rather good <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

It is, you can go down to your city hall and request the address and names of local sex offenders, that's what the whole list is about.

Yeah, there are lots around me, and I'm in a little backwater place. Hell, just found out someone I went to high school with is a pedo.

Oh man that's terrible. Why would they take Google Maps and rape it so that each button causes a new page load? Why? Why? Did Google Maps not cook them dinner properly?

Oh, and luckily there's only 6 offenders around me. 4 of them are all in the "other" category, so most likely just got drunk while naked or something. One pedo though, and from his picture he even looks like the guy you'd see on the street and go "he's a pedo". :/

There aren't many offenders near me, but the offenders that I checked were all child molesters, one sexual assualt and one statutory rape. Out of maybe, 30.

Very interesting. Extreme lack of rapists around where I live though <_<

One of the squares I clicked on was a whale woman too O_O, just thought i'd share considering most of the blocks are male.

Damn you Americans and your technology, I guess those of us not in the good ol' US of A will have to remain content to merely speculate on how many of our neighbors are child molestors and rapists. *sigh*

Yeah so I heard you can get your childs taken from you if your neighbours catch you showering them and they happen to be nekkid (IN THE SHOWER).

Lol, I found a few of those around where I live/used to live.

    As a side note:
The classification seems to be completely arbitrary.

I clicked through a large number of them and EVERY SINGLE ONE was with a minor as the victim, yet most of them were classified as other......

    something is screwy.
  • BonesXBonesX Join Date: 2007-02-04 Member: 59883Members, Constellation
Near as I can tell the classifications are done by a room full of non-english speaking sweatshop workers in china. They dont all seem to be on the same page.

On another note- They also seem to include the work addresses. Which make sense. I'm told that you have to register both work and home addresses. There is an address that is 8 blocks from me that has 14 offenders registered to it. It looks like a factory not a halfway house so... it also is probably not too far outside the 1000 foot limit of the local grade school. At least thats what I thought the limit was. THey are trying to put in a strip club in the same area and it was measured to be 1050 feet from the school. We are looking for a home daycare that is closer to shut it down.
