DS game suggestions?
<div class="IPBDescription">What's good out there?</div>I have a Reward Certificate for $25 for Amazon.com; and I'm at a loss as to what to use it on. So I thought a DS game would be my best bet.
But what's out there? I'm not into 2D or Turn-based games, I prefer games that push the little 3D power the DS has and I'm not into ****ty combat systems. If you guys have any suggestions just throw them out, I was thinking Electroplankton... but it sounds really dumbed down
My DS Library consists of:
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Brothers in Arms DS
Diddy Kong Racing DS
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Rayman DS
Super Mario 64 DS
So no need to list those.

Puzzle quest is horribly addicting....
Puzzle Adventure sounds kinda nifty, but I don't know if it'd get me hooked.

I would also recommend Elite Beat Agents or Osu Tatakae Ouendan (1 or 2, either) if you haven't played them before. They are a absolute must for any DS gamer, unless you're not into rhythmic beat games...
Final Fantasy Fables is also a goodie, although its a bunch of minigames. The freaking Card battle alone got me hooked for a long while. I only continued on with the storyline(minigames) to get more cards...
I would recommend Etrian Odyssey, but I don't know if it would be to your liking. Its a pretty awesome RPG.
Custom Robo Arena is also another good one.
Well that is about it on all the Games I would recommend that push the 3D engine portion of the DS, aside from what you listed and The New Super Mario Bros.

Etrian Odyssey is turn-based, so that's insta-fail.
I'm going to stray from FF Fables and Elite Beat since small mini-games never keep me entertained unless I'm playing with friends and I have a Guitar/Bass for all my music needs.

Seriously, Wario Ware DOESNT entertain you?
Yea, I know: It's not in 3D. But it is freaking addictive and it makes good use of the touchscreen <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
I'm at 95 hours gameplay in diamond and I've still got a ton of pokemon to gather.
FFIII is also a very good game.

I personally remind you, that Pokemon is indeed ###### awesome. I'll readily admit its basically the same game as before...but hey, it was never, ever broken. Perhaps lacking one big thing(MMO kthx), but never broken.
Multiplayer Fun with Friends: Metroid Prime Hunters and Animal Crossing
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl (Get Diamond, we've got punch.)
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
New Super Mario Bros.
And, Final Fantasy 3, but you said no turn based. (Which Pokemon is, but, hey. Get over it.)
What kind of gamer doesn't like 2D games?

I just don't like sprite-based games on the DS, if I wanted sprite-based games I'd stick with the GBA.
I'd play Pokemon again, but after the Red version I don't want to get into the process of collecting all of those damn things again. And when it comes to games, I always collect everything for some reason.
I had completely forgotten about that game.
What happened to it? Stopped by censoring?
There are a bunch of great games for the DS, 2D and 3D alike.
My favorites:
Electroplankton (Great for setting up a loop and just chilling)
WarioWare Touched (I hate warioware games. This one is okay.)
Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits
Kirby Canvas Curse
Meteos
Nanostray (FRUSTRATING top-down shooter, but fun)
Advance Wars - Dual Strike
Castlevania - Dawn of Sorrow/Portrait of Ruin (It's castlevania. What gamer doesn't like castlevania?!)
Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Phoenix Wright 1 and 2
Metroid Prime Pinball
Megaman Battle Network 5
Mario Kart DS
Super Princess Peach
Tetris DS
Worms Open Warfare
Megaman ZX (Though I hate the X series)
Cooking Mama
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Mario vs Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis
Elite Beat Agents (and Osu Tatakae Ouendan)
Final Fantasy III
Kirby Squeak Squad
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
Sim City DS
Wario: Master of Disguise
Theme Park
Honeycomb Beat
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
There are more than a few to stay away from... the worst that come to mind being NFSU2, Diddy Kong Racing, Rayman DS, Trace Memory, Rise of the Imperfects, Children of Mana, Contact, Scurge Hive, Cake Mania, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sims 2, and Death Jr.
Some are mediocre (Metroid Prime Hunters, Magical Starsign, Polarium) and should only be grabbed from the bargain bin, where they belong.
I would not call Diddy Kong Racing one of them. In fact, I'd go so far as to call that the worst racing game I've ever played, except that I've also played NFSU2:DS, and they're about on the same level of craptasticity.

There's a certain nostalgia factor that came with the game and it's good it doesn't have any bull**** like snaking.
I think I'll be tryin' out Nanostray, that game seems really fun.
Snaking's only BS if you can't do it right. Sure, it'd have been a more 'standard' racing game without it (and I'd enjoy it more too) but there's something to be said for skill-based advantages. Diddy Kong Racing just has abysmal control, crappy physics, and lost my interest within a half an hour... only gave it that long as I figured that maybe there would be some kind of potential I just hadn't noticed.
Yeah, I rent a lot of games when they catch my eye. I buy the good ones, and just return the crappy ones (or exchange them for a different game).
Just spent the evening playing Meteos with a buddy. It's frustrating during normal play against the computer (which is GODLY) but is awesome fun via download play. Only down side being that it's very color-based, so those with color-weak or colorblind vision may have a difficult time setting up the combos that others just have leap out at them.
Meteos is basically Puyo Puyo... that'd be fun to play on the go.
