Keeping Marines Happy....

any ideas?
It seems like giving marines HMG's and JP's work like a charm. The only problem about that is that it takes lots of resources. I think comm should give marines prizes for doing "good" deeds (such as taking out a hive, being the comm's handyman, etc.). Also, can someone help me with the slang these days?

Read another post under this topic, Commander's Strategy. Works wonders!

Be Verbose, Talk with your marines not about the weather but what your doing and why they cant have whatever. If you talk to them they will feel listend to and will go along ways, dont ignore any marine. If they call for medics and your just to busy say so "im secureing a hive i'll be there asap"

Don't forget to rub their tummies. Marines like that.

Nothing shows them you care more than a fat turret factory from the sky to their skulls.

I HATE it when I accidently do that. Of course, they're usually running around aimlessly anyway, so it's sorta their fault. I try to give them a notice, like "stay out of the corner. Yeah. That one. The one that you're in. Move. Yes, you. Move. UGH!" *DROP*

If you want you team to love you, try giving them candy.

I suppose you have to strike a balance between what you think your team shoudl do to win and what they think. After all in pub games no one gives a damn really and in clan games this problem wouldnt come up. So even if you think the shotgun is worthless, or jetpacks just messes up coordination or maybe you dont agree that they NEED GLs for that corner and could probably do it with jsut the HMGs they have, just give in every once in awhile. Well that is if theyre decent players

Sometimes it may pay off to just give in to random requests. Like the first time I got HMG/HA me and a couple others took that hive down!

------
M.O.T.O.42
Player: Can I have a shotgun/welder/Jetpack?
Moto42: Call it in the air, heads or tails...
Player: Huh? uh... heads?
Congratulations. Here ya go.
Player: YAY! *Motors off leaving a purple trail"
Slurk has eaten Player

The best way to keep marines happy is to keep them occupied...

it helps to commander to communicate with ur soldiers...better to spend 10 second to type ur idea or needs than let ur soldiers without any idea what are they doing (globaly) and why the **obscenity** they have to wait and do not have their loved HMGs if u have 49 resources (ie waiting to use it for prototype lab)...if u type em "pls wait i am inventing HA..." they mostly will...and they will also feel u r doing something for 'em (and may be u know what u r doing )

[QUOTE] I agree with you MILK, but I also believe if you keep the marines occupied as in letting them fight the aliens constantly with guiding them with waypoints and so on....and yes you can explain that u r working on building something else, they'll listen to you....just dont say stfu** like some people do

I think commanders are commanders, they're not there to entertain you. And you're no there to entertain him. Cooperate and you'll make both sides happy without all the whining.

Comms cannot work if the marines don't do anything commanders ask. Comms cannot be a one man team. I agree, they're not to entertain the people, but marines cannot win if they don't do what comm asks

i think an easy way to keep your troops happy is to just be a good commander. listen to them and they will listen to you. nothing ticks me off more then asking nicely for a med pack/ammo...waiting for 5 mins in hostile terrortory and then getting killed. its simple to press "space" and jump to me. and yes i play comm, and yes it is hard if everyone asks but i was the only one asking. never spam the comm or else you won't get a nice game ahead. its hard being a comm already and so why not reward the comm as well and actually play tactially and strategically?

when i'm comm, i usually like to keep my troops informed and well geared if the res allows. if i'm a marine, jus treat me as an indivual and keep me informed. all marines like getting into action and killing things...not at home getting raped by 5 onos.
