What about the Japanese and Korean game markets? They gotta be pretty small too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> .
(Nevermind that the Japanese in general have a tendency to hate any game that's...not Japanese)
Considering how wide of an audience Spore will appeal to, I think it will be a huge success. It's a lot more attractive to the average computer consumer than Rainbow Six: Vegas. When I first purchased the original Sims near its release date, I hadn't heard any hype or media about it (I wasn't a gamer at the time). I bought it because it looked different, quirky and fun.
I think Spore's main selling point is going to be to the mass of fans Will Wright has generated by his innovative games, and also going to be its strange appearence on store shelves. Word of mouth will be a big seller for this one, and people who normally don't play video games will make an exception for Spore - very much like the Sims was when it was first released.

I think it could easily be the best selling game; looking at the numbers there's almost as many DS' sold worldwide than Wii/360/PS3/PSP combined. Plus, Spore's a pretty laid back game and I'm sure anyone could pick it up.
New videos (though not DS exclusive, presumably) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Col_TIlXALo

So do most people believe in things like Orcs and magic and whatnot, e.g. World of Warcraft?

If I'm wrong though, the world is in a better state than I thought.

I hope there's some DS version videos soon.
