Personally I feel that the "Dork," or more accurately, the semiotic union of the submissive Jungian archetypes with the pronounced hubristic ego of Joyce, could be said to have been introduced within the framework of Kant's dialectic writings, though not present elsewhere in his work. However, it did not reach "saturation," if you will, in the post modern popular consciousness until the middle of this past century. The transcendant duality of dorkitude must be explored in its entirety in order to properly understand its developmental influence on contemporary American politics, as exemplified by works such as "This is Spinal Tap," and "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe."
