Video Quality Problems

Well whenever I go to play any type of video file outside of Firefox/IE, the image gets really, really messed up. It's sort of like someone cranked up the gamma nad brightness until the video's quality is so poor, it burns to look at it. This happens with every filetype BUT QuickTime format. QuickTime's videos are crisp and clear as ever. What do you think the problem is? I have the latest drivers for my video card and I have the latest DirectX.

    Probably your codecs. Try using DivX or something to play the movies and see if that helps.

    Already tried it. Still doesn't work. Same result for Windows Media Player and Winamp.

    I believe ffdshow you can configure a lot with display and stuff in divx and xvid videos... dont know about the other formats.

    Yeah I also got that. To fix it for avi's (havent figured out for mpg/wmv yet) uninstall all avi-codecs except xvid. Then goto Programs->XviD->Configure Decoder and set Output Colourspace to RGB32.

    Hope that works for you, at least with avis. If anyone has a solution for wmv/mpg, post it!

    What video card do you have? Have you tried rolling back the drivers?

    Check your overlays in your video card options.

    It's an issue with the latest Nvidia drivers... I had the same issue but I'm sorry to say I don't quite recall what steps I did to correct it. I do however recall going into the graphics card display panel and changing some setting. Try googling the new driver with the problem, there was a forum post that I found the solution off of.

    I had the same problems with the newest nvidia drivers, I just went back to the older ones and everything was fixed <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Ok, now that i'm home I can tell you what to do. Go to the vid card display settings, go to color correction and change your color profile from standard or w/e to advanced. That should fix it.

    Didn't fix it <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    EDIT: a bit of googeling found a solution. On colour correction chose "all" instead of "desktop".
