Seriously, that interview is messed up. Just to get an idea of what I mean, I'll use a metaphor. Think of EA as The Citadel.

    Thats the metaphor.

Unfortunately for EA and other companies, consumers have the greatest power: their money. They also have the second greatest power: their mouth.

Those two things allow us consumers to tell companies what we want. Guess how many games are released for systems every year? How many actually make a good profit? Not too many. It's too easy to flood the market with crappy games. Just look at what happened with original PS within a year. Only a really good game will stand to bring home the bacon in such a situation. Either that or a continuation of a classic title.

You've always been one. You work, you earn money, and then you go out and spend that money on goods. You consume. You keep the system running. You're important to the system, but not because of who you are, but because of the consumption that you do. Therefore, you are not a person, but a consumer. You could be a mindless slave barely aware of his own existence - it would not matter. Just keep consuming. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

Just because it is the main publisher, and has all the $$ to back it up, it would have been stupid for valve to try do it alone or get some other publisher. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Why didn't they just not publish it at all, its PC success is amazing.

Not to mention all the steam bought software money goes all straight to them without Vivendi getting a cut.

If its such a bad idea, they should not have inked a deal with EA.

Also the guy does graphic design, OF Course he thinks its most important thing.

I guess its too much to ask to look beyond the words on an interview. Disappointing indeed.

Graphic Design is his speciality. He's also a Vice-President, so I don't think it's unreasonable of me to expect him to have a slightly broader and better informed knowledge of where his company is going and what the gamer wants in a game (if you are to disagree with comments made in the interview, these are not the same thing in the slightest).

And yes, CWAG I was quite PO'd when I read that. Not because of what was written, but the sarcastic tone it takes about quite a depressingly real topic.
