I haven't reinstalled and I'm not going to. The game runs flipping fine.

I think the memory leaks occured in servers only... so you might have a server shortage and be forced to revert to an older version <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Makes you wonder... Wouldn't it be better if EA made the BF2 patches make backups of the files they overwrote?

As I said before, it took the servers a week to upgrade to the patch, it'll take em a week to downgrade. Plus not every server seems to have problems. Either they got a ton of ram, or are just lucky or something.

I wouldn't worry, the game nose-dives into a cancerous mess of bugs and sub-Bloodrayne gameplay before too long.

You need to go up two ranks to get a new gun, right?

I finally got my new computer up and running without any problems. I installed BF2, played a round of Strike at Karkand and creamed my pants. Not only is the game fantastic and beautiful, my new system ran it silky smooth.

I must suck though, 3 hours of ranked play got me maybe 15% into Private ranking.

I would love it if you had the option to choose a different voicepack from the standard. I know it sounds really cheesy, but having an 'americanised' voicepack for the PLA/MEC with Asian/Arab accents ala C&C would help alot.

When in the USMC team, it is alot easier to get teamwork going for that reason. If I'm standing behind a medic and yell for him, he turns around and heals me. If I'm on the Chinese team, he'll just stand there (given that 99.9% of all the people I've played with don't speak chinese). Same goes for every other kind of support. I've reported an incoming tank several times only to watch everyone stnd on the middle of the road and get swat down like flies. Etc ect.

Radio commands are subtitled in the chat box too, so it's not like it's that hard to figure out what's going on.

People don't look at their chatbox 24/7. And noticing things like those are hard when it's being spammed with spotted/aptured/lost etc. Personally I find the audio cues far more helpfull.

I do wish there were voices that spoke English but had Arabic/Chinese accents for the two other factions... I mean, it might not make sense as much as them speaking their native languages, but at least it would provide atmosphere without having the disadvantage of having to read what each and every voice command means, yet without having to hear the same exact American voices in every battle.

I wanna see the stats of some people who play engy mostly... good records? how do you avoid the frustrations of having your teamies run over your mines and punishing you? or having someone steal the tank you're fixing? I can't bear playing engy, and yet sometimes I see people cleaning up playing it... hiding down a secluded street to fix up every time their tank takes damage, etc... though those people assume the competition is all zerg - I can often sneak up and follow them, stealing the tank as they fix it, or blowing it up when they think they're alone...

    bah, I miss the game, haven't gotten to play since Thursday <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Best way is to just play it as a support class. Sometimes I play engi simply because we have too many drivers for the vehicles, and the open terrain is too infantry unfriendly (Wetlands). I just hop into someones chopper/APC and act as a field repair unit.

Yes, and on this occassion I'm completely right.

The game plunges into mediocreness the minute you start the Nosferatu sewer mission, and the rare later enjoyable pieces do little to lift the tarnish before the pathetic final missions.

Such a shame, really. The first 8 to 10 hours are fantastic.

Granted the Sewer was a *little* dragged out I did enjoy rescuing the doctor and the final fights in the Ventrue tower. (Although fighting Ming Xiao was a pain in the backside. Besides that ending bit is where everything starts falling into place. Not to mention running from the Werewolf was one of the best set-pieces in a game ever. But then again I had the misfortune of being sucked into V:tM something nasty.

However, even if some bits were questionable and some people didn't like them it did show off some parts of the Source engine very nicely. For example, give any nerd some game time talking to VV and you'll get a reaction, from both parties. Not to mention talking to NPC's like Jack had a definate charm to it. It was the nearest any game has got to almost real people. Even moreso because of the voice acting and expressions system. If a character is annoyed/depressed/happy he/she looks it and they look it. And all sorts of other emotions. Take the first time you saw Damsel she looked capable of ripping you head off. And that gives a large impact to the player. Plus it was nice to see the prince get his comeuppance.

But I could spend ages waxing lyrical about what I loved about V:tM.

    However... One last thing.....

    VV Rocks. That is all.

The written languages are similar and some words are common, but the phonetics are completely different.
