    Heh, yeah it's pretty cool.
You guys should check out the <a href='http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/entrance/index.php?Cat=' target='_blank'>keyhole BBS</a> and then check the forum for a massive amount of cool stuff you can see/do.

You can add overlays to your map by importing photos from the web, so naturally you can use weather.com radar images to have a up to date weather report actually placed over the earth.
You can import flickr photos forthe local area by using <a href='http://www.flickr.com/groups/topic/50193/' target='_blank'>this</a> little hack.
And im sure there will be more KML hacks created in the coming months.

    Google just keep getting better.

most of the UK is a blur with one or two square areas strangely photographed in more detail. I luckily live in one of the more detailed places but I found out that only america gets 3D buildings... oh what a surprise ¬.¬

<b>edit:</b> nevermind, after seeing the 3d blocks of grey they call buildings it's no real loss :3

I just wish they'd take some high rez piccies of scotlands two major cities... edinburgh and glasgow are both a blur and for some reason glasgow shows up as if it was the main city even though edinburgh is the actual capital and requires you to zoom in lots closer before it pops up :/
  • RaVeRaVe Join Date: 2003-06-20 Member: 17538Members
Well look at it this way. Nobody has enough time to go to EVERY city to give details of EACH and EVERY building.

Well, I'm still disappointed because of that. I wanted to get a 3D-esque picture of my primary school to bring some nostalgia....but sadly, no non-US 3D buildings like stated <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I hope the major cities get done though.

That's my street, or my town... I'm not really sure. Plugged in my post code then zoomed out a bit. I think that grey box at the bottom right is my old school (my house backed onto it's playing fields) but I'm really not sure.

Damn racist google not taking images of the UK! There are higher resolution images of deserts in America than there are of Birmingham in England <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Google Earth? More like <i>GoogleAmerica</i>
They might as well have written "<i>here be dragons</i>" on any co-ordinate outside the USA.

Well the problem is, the big city's maps are taken from plane, whereas everything else is sattelite. That's why it's so blurry for some of you guys.

    You'd think it'd be in "user-defined collection"...

What, does it have everything in 3D?

And also, what must I do to get my buildings in 3D WITH textures?
