Has Bf2 Reduced Ur Ns Playtime?

MistenTHMistenTH Join Date: 2003-01-01 Member: 11706Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
<div class="IPBDescription">If so, why?</div> I still love NS and its gameplay, but more and more often when I decide whether to click on steam or BF2, it ends up being BF2.

I'm probably playing only like 10% of the NS i used to due to BF2, and it's been almost a month.

Anyone else behaving the same way?

The tactics, massive combat, beautiful maps and squad system are what hook me onto BF2. And oh yes, the thrill of flying, the satisfaction of the kill in a dogfight.

You should just expand it to include all games - or at least WoW

But yeah, I have not spent more than an hour or so in NS for pretty much all of june.

It's a new game, so people are going to find it more exciting. However, I really wish servers would turn off FF, at least until an admin is there to perma-ban TKers.

No, BF2 is just boooooring. So I have to play ns, but it doesen't make a lot of fun watching your fps drop to 30 always when there are several rines and aliens on the screen.
Strange, I get more fps at doom 3, hl2 and far cry than at ns :/
But back to topic. I played the bf2 demo and it got boring really fast. So I didn't even bothered to get the game.

BF2 and the other latest games can't run on my crappy compy. So by default, no. Except this week; busy with grad and all.

I haven't had my NS playtime reduced in some time. TBH I'm not even interested in BF2, and haven't picked it up.

I was going to pick up BF2 this weekend and I think it might reduce my NS playtime, depending on how laggy it is.

yea, I'm always asked "why I never play NS anymore", and I have to admit, BF2 does play a large part in that, especially now that I fixed the CTD error on the retail version.
But, like any new game, it will eventually get old and we'll all be back to playing NS again until NS source comes out <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Demo wouldn't even start on my computer. Latest hardware, latest drivers, etc. No working.

Needless to say, I haven't sent them my $50.

    But I have been playing some OTHER games. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

considering playing bf2 would cost me somewhere in the region of 400 bucks to upgrade my comp, no it hasnt reduced any time for me to play ns, but there are other games out there you know

I'd be surprised if the release of an anticipated game hadn't killed a few people's time. Hell, honestly, <i>I</i> am currently hooked on Baldur's Gate 2, of all games. Nobody ever signed a contract to play NS. If it gets boring for you, or something else sparkles a bit brighter for now, just let it happen. And look forward to re-exploring NS after being through with the new title <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I play BF2 pretty much exclusively now. I really don't like how the NS community has evolved, and how the competitive scene turned. Its really not that fun unless you are playing with a top team.

Pubs are mediocre at best, unless playing on the vet server. Even then its hit or miss.

I like battlefield more because the team can make up for an incompetant commander. The commander is important, but is not end all be all.

Also the tanks and cars are fun to drive.

Overall its just a better FPS with a better commander interface.

If the team is down, there is a chance for a comeback. Where as in NS 2nd hive usually means gameover.

yeah but games are decided after the first 5 minutes.

BF leaves more anticipation, its not over until the last ticket is gone.

If NS had that aspect it would be unstoppable. But I don't see a rework of the entire system to make it like that.

    Oh well, I'll play BF2 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

thats probably because you could not figure out what an "iron site" was. Assuming you're more intelligent than the digital iron site, it should be easy to aim. Unless you suck, of course...

And teppla does have a point. NS clearly copied BF2's commander mode, among other things.

Now now Sentry Steve! Iron sights rock and I've shot enough guns to understand iron sights. Now when I put the head just above the iron sight itself that should inflict a headshot. But does it? No because the game was made by EA. Just look at how crappy BF1942 was. Tanks were pathetic beyond anything I have ever imagine. And the tanks in BF2 are still pretty worthless. I'd rank on the game a lot more but I've only played the demo :/

Your guised insult and attempts at seeming smart are fruitless, I am using iron sights, and I am prone. Machinegun wins over sniper rifle.

I respect those behind NS more than BF2. Considering the limited time I have to play games and my interest in the gaming industry, this is an important factor for me. Congrats to DICE for a great squad system, but I'll take NS thank you.

    umm...........

    anyway....

I don't know what gun you're using cwag (although the sniper rifles are a real **** to use) but I'm using the unlocked spec op gun and, when iron sites is up, can kill with an average of 10 bullets.

I suggest you aim for their chest, shoot in a burst, and a bullet might hit their head, if it doesn't repeat once and they'll die anyway.

I would totally be playing BF2 if Gamestop knew how to ship their games within two weeks of my ordering it (ordered a day before release, and UPS says it hasn't even shipped yet). Instead I'm playing GTA:SA.
