Any Unused Concepts?

<div class="IPBDescription">I'm dead on my feet</div> Well,I'm looking now for any kind of project to take up. I need a layout. It's as simple as that. I suck at making my own, I don't know why. I'm half thinking of using the old ns_eclipse layout and making a map based off that layout... but I don't want to steal from an old goodie like that

Any out there that i could use?

    here, i drew this up in about 15 mins, feel free to use it if ya want

    EDIT: sorry, it just wasnt sexy enough i had to change it when i thought about how it would play... heres the revised edition

    what, then? veil style? that works too of course, but so does the "square box".

    caged, for real? i just drew it, it looks completely different, and much smaller....
    at least IMO... but i guess the dbl and hive positions are SIMILAR... other than that i dont see a resemblance

    caging was simply a coincidental use of the English language. I could have just as easily said "boxing in" but caged has a more suppressive connotations; I was trying to help you understand that map layouts are much better when you think about them as a real construction, made by intelligent lifeforms. Don't let your maps end up like <i>ant farms</i> because of a poor layout.

    Absolutly right Crispy !

    I'm sick of maps with a square footprint, sick of maps which consist of rooms without any obvious purpose, ... sick of maps which may be part of a labyrinth ... cause the layout doesn't fit for any space-ship / -station or what ever.

    If a room is called Cargo Bay ... there should be big Gates ... things like stacker lift trucks, and good old crates. If it is in marine Territory ... make it look clean ... if it is near a hive, let the crates be knocked over ... broken ...

    If it is satelite communication ... there should be loads of monitors ... maybe a big mainscreen, analysis computers and so on ...

    Make the rooms look like they have been in use some hours ago.


    Just imagine a scenario from the war TSA vs Kharaa ^^

    ok ... here we go ... ns_sheba

    This is Version 0.1 ~~ so it is not completed yet. This a classic NS map.

    Backgroundstory:

    err ... I will write a good one as soon as I have some time to. ^^ But so far: The map is a docking station. It is one of multiple Platforms Spacestation "Sheba" has. An infected Ship arrived at one Bay and Kharaa flooded that Platform. But Spacestation authorities managed to quarantine that docking platform and called for TSA to manage the thread. A small group of marines arrives in a small gunboat. They are forced to get in from another Dockingbay on that Platform.

    nice its sertainly not square, the only issues i see with multi lvl maps stacked directly above one another is, possable segine of lvls above and below

    It's caged man... you just traded one vent for a hallway and offset the nodes and hives a little.
