Getting Nintendo to do HD for Revolution
I normally don't do the silly petition things, but this one isn't just signing a petition like those other crappy online things that never work. It's actually individual people contacting Nintendo, via web form, letter, phone, fax, etc. Not harrassing, just saying "I love you guys, but please, please give us HD in the Revolution and here's why..." type things.

It's ran by smart, level-headed people (or at least the web site gives that appearance), so that's another plus that hopefully they'll get Nintendo's attention (and hopefully get them to seriously consider their point). They're getting all kinds of media attention too, so hopefully that'll help.

So if you're a Nintendo fan, and you would like to see HD support in the Revolution, clickity.

What?!? I assumed it was going to have High Definition support from the start!

You assumed wrong. About 3 weeks ago one of the head people for the Revolution project said they didn't feel their customers wanted it. :/

Who the hell do they think their customers are? Are they pulling that BS where they pretend the only demographic they have to market to is 5 year olds again?

They also said when Microsoft was ripping up Nintendo with their online support that their customers didn't want that either.

I guess Nintendo has some good ideas, but it seems that they're just throwing themselves down the toilet now...

Nintendo is going the way of Sega, and I cry myself to sleep every night over it.

Well, it seemed to work for Microsoft. I may be wrong, but Live seems to have done the XBox a lot of good.

...I laughed out loud when I read this. I think it's safe to say that, while the GameCube has a lot of fun games, it wasn't the most liked one. That's what they're doing to the Revolution. I guess Nintendo lost all hope after the SNES!

Nintendo should probably stick to handhelds. That seems to be how they're holding on.

To be honest, the people I met online in console games were usually more amiable in general than the PC gaming crowd. Either way I'd prefer not to say one is worse than the other buuuut PC actually seems to have a higher rate of online jerks compared to my limited console experiences. Course there's jerks in both populaces so you can't win either way :p

It's idea is good of course, but it's got next to zero games, and the only games I know of that will be good are one or two which won't be released till the end of the year.

    Perhaps.

I know you're all over this stuff, DOOM. It just reminds me of awesome wireless support makes the PSP, even if you have no wireless connection.

I certainly believe it will be outclassed by the PSP myself. Only time will tell. DS needs to get a larger player base before the whole "talking to people" and playing games with others nearby really starts to catch on.

Not sure if the PSP does that.. does it? Also, does the DS have an internet browser? PSP be working with one soon.

Pfft, Dual Screens? Wireless networking? Go back and get a GBA (SP sucks!). That's the only way to play. Just now, I hooked up my NES and played a few rounds of Duck Hunter, Super Mario Bros, and SMB3... It was awesome. Way better than Xbox 360 or PS3 or Nintento Revolution. (S)NES were awesome. It's not the same anymore

    You mean, "DS"?

Retro and new games are both fun in different ways. And keep in mind the titles you mention are the AAA classics. You're totally leaving Goonies II, Time Lord, and Renegade 2 out of the picture. New games produce just as many new classics such Katamari, Burnout 3, and Smash Brothers.

EDIT: Oh and DS rules (but needs more games).

DS just looks crap to me, reminds me of them old rubbish dual screen lcd games. PSP just looks so sexy, people are gonna end up buying it purely because it looks so nice. Apparently it's quite good as well.

After showing it to a group of GIRLS i know who dont play ANY GAMES at all, they wanted to buy one!

Just because it does so much that its well worth the money and its got so many good features. It also has decent games on it, again i thought about getting a DS but the games didnt apeal to me in any way.

Nintendo has a track record for beating well designed handhelds (Game Gear, Lynx, etc.). Right now, both handhelds have a distinct lack of good games. It's a matter of who'll close the gap faster.

Anyway, both portables are lacking to the extreme in any games. But the PSP has one huge edge over the DS in that it's not limited to games. It can be used for other things like a mini DVD player or an mp3 player.

After the revolution and the DS, which will make-or-break Nintendo (I foresee break), Nintendo will probably become another 3rd Party developer.

Actually theres that new kirby game out that looks awesome. Then theirs Metroid , the new mario sidescroller, and viewtiful joe all coming to the DS and all of them make use of the touchscreen in cool ways. The only reason I don't like the DS is because it loks a tad bit clunky and really wouldn't fit well into your pocket at all. Is there any really cool games coming up for the PSP?

    wow. such uneducated opinions here.

nintendo aint going anywhere quick. fact of the matter is, nintendo has, and always has been, strongest in the gaming market.

did you know nintendo outsold sony and microsoft in 2004? total nintendo sales (gba, ds, gcn) outsold sonys psp, psx and ps2, and microsofts xbox.

only difference between me and you is, you bought into sony/microsoft propaganda.

however, if you were referring to console sales, then thats a different matter entirely. total gamecube sales (since launch) world wide atand around 12 million units. total xbox sales float around 20 million, with the ps2 weighing in at around 70 million.

paints a different picture, dosnt it?

fact of the matter is, the difference in gcn to xbox sales seems minute when compared to ps2. the gap is huge there. the gamecube didnt do all that badly. it produced the sequel to, and a close contender for, the finest beatem up ever (ssbm) and is and always has been technically superior to the ps2/xbox.
Nintys announcement of the opening up of the backcatalogue of games for download will be an amazing first step, and i honestly cannot wait.

    Vive la revolution!
  • GeminosityGeminosity :3 Join Date: 2003-09-08 Member: 20667Members
Actually the xbox has higher technical specs than the GC if I remember right but that aside you seem fairly correct :3

Still... Sony has hype power so the PSP could pose a big threat to ninty's main earner; the handheld market :o

Don't they have a chokehold on the younger demographic too? I always remember hearing that.
