Hello,
Many of you may not know me, but I am here to bridge the gap between pub players and competitive players. I have formed a channel on mIRC #farmteams for public players that are looking to become competitive.
Basically what the channel does is list current teams/people that are already established in the ns competitive community and are looking to reach out to the public players to form new clans.
If you are interested in joining a new competitive clan under the guidance of already established competitive players then please stop on by. The channel again is #farmteams.
Thanks you for your cooperation.

I know I've been out of the loop for a while, but doesn't #findnsclan do this already? Just chat up some other clanners and see what's going on and whatnot.
By the way, you didn't mention the IRC server. I'm going to assume Gamesurge, although you really ought to specify.

gamesurge is the network
findnsclan is worthless because it's dead and never updated with teams who are recruiting or people who are looking for teams. it also never really worked in the first place because most people didn't use it and it wasn't advertised enough.
farmteams started about 3 hours ago and i already have 5 people who want to join a team which i will be managing, so i'd say that's an impressive start
if you're even remotely interested in trying real competitive play, now is your chance to see what the fuss is about
#farmteams ok
Many things are just unexplained when starting a team:
How to get sponsored or where to find a server to scrim/match on?
How to setup the team in cal
How to create and run a team with almost no investment.
How to keep things organized.
Things to look for when watch matches on HLTV.
How to use IRC.
How to setup a channel in IRC and assign admins.
List of channels to idle in. (i.e. #findnsscrim, #nspickup)
Good ways to setup practice schedules.
How to setup scrims.
How to setup the team in cal
How to keep players involved.
How to learn from mistakes.
How to stay positive.
There are alot more....
This would be really helpfull as most people dont know where to start and would rather give up. I dont think a site has been created before on how to make a team, most sites are about how to play the game.
I do have a site available if anyone would like to use it, no strings attached, totally free:
<a href='http://www.nsgamer.com/site' target='_blank'>www.nsgamer.com/site</a>
I would try to do this myself but I dont have the time and I'm not good with phpnuke. Some effort has already been put in.

for refrence the best demos skillwise would probably be exigent or terror
what isnt cool is thinking "oh lol ill go spam this on #naturalselection, get banned and then say they hate the game and want it dead".

Stop advertising your site! :O
For the idea itself...very nice job. Finally someone who doesnt just whine about the pub/competetive gap..he does somethign about it. Good job Mate!
Anyway, I wasn't aware that #findnsclan was dead. Like I said, I've been out of the competitive loop for some time now, and I don't I feel I should get back into it. I still think the channel is a bit superflous; anyone with any social skills and a good head on their shoulders would just ask a respected clanner - anyone, really - what they needed to get set up and what teams were looking for people. Channels like this are just magnets for the drama you've apparently already witnessed.
This is an excellant opportunity to get on a team that is actually being trained to play comp ns well. If you have a team of guys, this is an excellant opportunity to get a mentor who is a successful comp ns player to work with you for hours, for no reason other than to have another successful team to play.
Whether you're by yourself or you have a couple friends you play with, ns is better when its organized. Say goodbye to those games where 4 people fade with no chambers and die while no second hive is built. Start playing ns how it should be played.
Co2 was a farm team started before this season and they are playing in the omega finals this sunday. This farm clan method has proven that it creates stable successful ns teams. Get in on this before next season starts!
The reason they don't want to play you is because you're just too good for them. So teach, them, help them, make them better. In a short while you'll have other teams who can bring the fight to you. Unless you're afraid of eventually losing.
If you scrim a clan and you trounce them, then split the teams into Half knife, half nubs. Scrim with 3 knife players on both sides once and a while. Then it doesn't matter about which side wins, because its now about improving game play.
Somebody has to take the initiative to do something like #farmteams. Nin has and thats why there are 4 teams picking up new players very quickly. This is awesome.
I forsee pointless bannings, general downtalking to newbies interested who ask questions that may be less than intelligent, clanners spewing ego all over, and scrims in which established clans wipe the floor with newbies, and proceed to rub it in their face by dragging out endgame etc etc.
I've seen this before, I'de like to see it work, but you can't change human nature. Or NS-Clanner nature for that matter. In the mean time I'll be supporting #farmteams and so should you.
I really hope people can put their differences aside and come together and help the community.
omg i just sounded like john lennon.
also, slot2 scrimmed crayon last night and they were really cool towards them. if crayon can be nice, all of you can!
Extend it? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

It shouldn't be knife's responsibility to start something like this up- I think the problem isn't building skill up (I feel having played NS for almost 3 years, and at the age of 20, my game has peaked and won't get any better); it's getting new clans together, and more importantly, getting them matches against those in the same skill bracket.
The ENSL was a step in the right direction, but it's fizzled out- I don't know why (yes, many clans went inactive, but -why- did they go inactive? NS still has balance problems, but its the best its every been).
Plus the fact that A LOT of euro clans and I mean A LOT in NS are so unprofessional when it comes to any sort of euro league setup. Either by a) Not reading the league rules b) Being uncooperative to admins who are trying to assit them with rules etc [edit: c) by just disappearing and never appearing again at the league.]
Anyway my play has gone down hill long ago with being so busy with my job and everything I just don't have the time to spend on NS anymore to keep my skill up <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Also another thing to note about european players is that the playerbase is split by language. Teams are usually put together based on common languages and if you look at most of clans with players spread over the whole of Europe they will speak English and probably won't have more than one, if any, members from countries which don't learn English very well (Finnland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal are some of the main ones I have noticed). Most of the players will be from the UK, Scandinavia and the Netherlands in the international teams.
Anyway, #farmteams seems pretty cool, it would be good if something like that happened but it does seem much less likely to work out in Europe.
I really hope people can put their differences aside and come together and help the community.
