My computer's 5-years-old too, but it's near double all of that. Still a POS.

Seriously ouch =\ You should make a donation thread and ask everyone to donate like $2 and you could build a pretty decent computer.

Try to convice your parents to get a new one, or at least an upgrade. If you go for the upgrade path, take a look right below. If you want a whole new one, pm me and I provide a consultation service.

For a somewhat low price you could easily upgrade that thing to a point where it could be quite playable on some newer games.

    Here is my first suggestion.

The 600, gotta go. If it is a SLOT 1 processor, you can peak at 1Ghz(Noting that the 1 Ghz are SUPER RARE).
If it is a Skt370 FPGA processor, you can peak out at 1.2-1.4 Ghz. Depending on if your board supports the Tualiton core.

    <a href='http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=PIII1000FC&cat=CPU' target='_blank'>Socket 370 1 Ghz CPU PIII</a>

    <a href='http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=PIII866S1-2&cat=CPU' target='_blank'>866 Mhz Slot 1</a>

    Next, your RAM.

    64 MB......

I am going to assume you use PC100

Well, lets drop that and get PC133 to go with a higher bus speed PIII.
One question though, what is your OS? If it is 2000 or later, you can get 2 of these as they will read 512 MB+ of memory. ME, and all of the 9x series can't read above 512 MB's.

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820141515' target='_blank'>512 MB PC133 SDRAM</a>

And in case your motherboard only supports 256 MB Chips, here is a 256 MB chip :-)

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146302' target='_blank'>256 MB PC133 SDRAM by Mushkin</a>

A new HDD is going to be the next upgrade.

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144122' target='_blank'>80 GB by Western Digital A true work of art</a>

Lets see, I think a CD-Burner is going to be a worthwhile upgrade for you.

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827190009' target='_blank'>52x32x52x16x Rosewill CD Burner Combo Drive</a>

And now the video card. I know this about PIII's, some of them had 4x, others used 2x. So I will find a card that utilizes 8x in case you have 4x. And I will find a card that utilizes 4x in case you have 2x. :-)

    4x card
<a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161101' target='_blank'>Radeon 7000 an old card, but good enough for what you need</a>

    8x card

    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814166003' target='_blank'>Radeon 9550 a perfect upgrade..............hell everything is a perfect upgrade from that TnT</a>

I hope this helps. I love upgrading old computers. :-D

    I have a gateway 2000. Original Specs:

    PII 233 Mhz
    64 MB PC66
    5 GB HDD
4 MB no name brand AGP card -_-
    24 x CD-ROM
    Windows 95
Played NS at 2-4 fps 640x480

    New Specs:

    PII 333
    384 MB PC133
    40 GB HDD
64 MB GeForce 3 Ti 500(Yes AGP 4x is backwards compatible with 1x, as 8x is with 2x)
52x32x52x16x CD Burner DVD combo drive.
    Windows XP SP1a
Plays NS at 30-35 fps at 800x600 32 bpp
