<div class="IPBDescription">Interesting Article</div> <a href='http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/click_online/4102692.stm' target='_blank'>http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/clic...ine/4102692.stm</a>
An interesting read although I was abit dubious about posting this incase people start dodgy discussions about p2p business and the like. So er.... don't.
I like this bit:
From the interview: "On the other hand, Skype, just like Kazaa and other software, are encouraging people to buy broadband connections."
In all honestly, this was a small factor in my upgrade from 56k to broadband. I was more interested in a lower latency on games like Counter-Strike (Natural-Selection wasn't released at the time.)
Other stuff to think about:
Bit-Torrent?
Didn't one of the p2p designers/programmers/creators commit suicide a while back? (Depression or something if I remember rightly.) Who was that and what did he/she make?
Thoughts, views, bacon ?
ADVANCE NOTE TO MODS: This is an innocent enough topic but it's content can quickly send it down-hill. Hopefully this won't happen, I apologise in advance incase it does.

seriously though... I'd have to agree with you on broadband; I think most people get it for gaming more than for p2p but then again most people I know are gamers so my view is kinda biased :3

I know a lot of people with broadband who rarly play games. They use it for downloading music, some from iTunes, some from p2p. There are a lot of gamers using broadband, because well, it just makes sence to use it, but there are also a lot of non gamers, most likly a majority of broadband users.
I miss Napster... You know, the old one...

Zennström agrees the amount of adware in programs like Kazaa, and some of the other file-sharing networks, is "way too much".
"It destroys the user experience", he says.

He doesn't like spyware/malware/adware, yet he doesn't do anything to get rid of the UBER huge amounts that come with it.
I don't like it when they agree its bad, but still don't change it... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Hypocrites ftl.
Seconded. Now I'm at a loss for games to play due to hardware constraints though. But initially it was games.

If I'm remembering correctly, he doesn't own Kazaa anymore. They sold it to Sharman Networks to avoid legal issues, or something.
