Blame Other Games

not combat
There have been many major blockbuster games released over the last couple years.
NS and combat have gotten nothing but better since initial releases.
Games like WoW, HL2, Halo2, Doom3, GTA:SA, and now battlefield2 have and are continually stealing many gamers from their old games. WoW alone has taken dozens of regs (and even some of my clan members) from my server.
As much as I love NS there isn't much hype on anything new. No hype + no major, exciting new content = titanic effect.
The NS community eating itself away on the inside doesn't help either. Every time I visit the forums old schoolers are constantly knocking CO and the people that play it. This probably doesn't create a very welcoming atmosphere for new players.
Stop citing CO as the death of NS.

Seriously there are to many combat threads.
Hmm, Im getting an idea...
Combat might not play a big role in driving players to other games (if you really want to argue), but it plays one, nonetheless
CO itself is supposed to help newbies to familiar with the ns_ map. Not as a stand alone game. If you put CO and CS in front of me, i would pick CS. The reason why i am choosing this game is because of its mixed RTS and FPS and its my favourite topic, scentific, aliens vs humans. So is co doing its job as a supportive map? i dun think so. Before 3.0, eveything is fine. and what about now? i would rather play competitive or with bots but not pubs. i have tonnes of GGs back in 2.0 but only a few in 3.0. Whos to blame? the players? what bring the players? me?
edit: Hey do you think are there any games like MOHAA, AOC sucking people away back in 2.0?
So if you are telling me, co is going to be the next trend, it will replace all the ns_ maps, the dev team is giving up classic, ok, then i will delete NS right away.
Answer me this: are they right just because they're numerous?

No. Combat is supposed to help newbies familiarize themselves with weapons, lifeforms, attacks, and upgrades. They're not supposed to gain any tactics experience from combat.

That's not what he's telling you. He's telling you that there's no reason to hate combat, so this hypothetical situation serves no purpose. It won't happen.
Pro CO = Liberals
Currently, it stands to be:
There are more Conservatives than Liberals
The problem is:
The Liberals are LOUDER
Jesus... I just compred NS to the US governemtn... I'm going to go hang myself now.

We blame co_ because there are more than 2x the servers with co_ on at any moment than ns_.
This is false logic.
You have no evidence nor reason to believe that they would be running NS if they weren't running co. Also, feel free to start your own NS only server.
People blaming co for ns woes are looking for a scape got
vermi 'I play both'

I would say there are more Liberals than Conservatives ... this is why the Anti CO's are hollering so loud.
cant stand that topic...
(Though I played 2.x, I really joined once 3.0 beta came out, and I learned how to play on CO. Now I play NS too, except for being a commander, which I can't get down properly .)
it's not worth discussing the merits of it here but you can easily draw skill lines based on that single server variable, and it was a incredibly short-sighted move for the ns team to include it in a small community.
So no. I refuse.
The truth is, people just don't want to play with a 10 level cap. I really don't know how that's Depot's fault, but I'm pretty sure flaming him is only going to get you banned from here.
This is clearly combats fault.
CO is now dead, thanks to Depot (I think he is the one who made them.)

Wow, I get the credit for killing Combat? I'll let you in on a little known secret: you'd be hard-pressed to even FIND a plugin out there that I have developed. That's right, I don't make plugins, I simply am very knowledgeable in the field and heavily involved at modNS.org.
What I am is pro-choice. If a server op decides to load his server with game-altering plugins, I can refer him to any one his heart desires. It's his server, he knows what his player base wants, and that's the end of the story.
You may want to do a little research next time before personally attacking someone and accusing them of something they haven't done.
I guess we should just accept opinions from turds like you.
I also think depot deserves a lot of credit for the effort he puts in to keep this community active.
When WoW was first released, the servers I plated took a big impact, however over time most came back. Since 3.0F, the people who have left have NOT come back, and when they did, it was for a few days, and they realised they would rather do something else. Yes, I am currently enjoying BF2, but NS has just lost it's flavour for me.
Forget co, forget the games, it's NS. Plain and simple. Until some drastic changes are made to gameplay/balance, I think it will continue to degrade to a co pubfest with a cranky CAL scene.
but i know that when i do go back to ns some time from now i will be hooked on to it
it's nice to have someone other than myself saying this.

so u suppose these arent for ns_ map? perhaps there are no such weapons, lifeforms, attacks, and upgrades in ns_map? or why they need to know about fade is because they wanted to have the ability reconize one in a zoo?

pathetically its been happening.

thats why its co_ to blame. Famous games sucking up people ALWAYS exsist, but it wont change the nature of the game.

Actually, the right terminology is conservatives and radicals. The oppisite of a liberal is a socialist.
Just being an ideology nazi.
If CO is dead, then why are so many people playing it?
Depot just runs a server.

I think I'll blame you anyways, just because I find the concept amusing.
It's obvious that people switching to other games/mods becoz ns lost it's flavour for them
Many players in OTHER mods do swicth themsleves to those famous games just simply becoz those new games look good(for exmaple many FA players switched themsleves to BFV,CS:S and BF2),but it's not the case for ns ,many people left ns since 3.0beta was released(including me) ,and with the same reason ,"ns CHANGED to something it dun suppose to be".
Which isn't that weird at all.
Go play NS_ maps, learn how to play those, find a nice player base, meet experienced people. Enjoy NS once more.
CO_ = fun for a short time
NS_ = fun for live
