Dear Mr. Bloe:
              Amnesty on Library Overdue Fines
                  1 June till 30 June 2005

Do you or someone you know have a library book or other library items at
home that are overdue or fines on your library card?

If so, then take advantage of Brisbane City Council's amnesty
on overdue fines.

Visit your local library in June, bring in a can of food with your
overdue items and have your fines waived. If you have already
returned your items but have not paid your fines, it's not too
late. Bring in a can of food and your existing fines will also be
waived, it's that easy.

All canned food will be donated to charity.

Council libraries provide a range of services and facilities for the
whole community. Enjoy browsing an extensive range of books,
magazines, DVDs, videos, CDs and CD-ROMs and access
online reference services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Welcome back to Brisbane City Council libraries.

You can use the library catalogue - eLibCat
<a href='http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/elibcat/' target='_blank'>http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/elibcat/</a>
to check due dates or renew items (via "My Account").

For more information please contact Council on
3403 8888, visit <a href='http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/libraries' target='_blank'>http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/libraries</a>
or your local Council library.

Is this really cool or what? Now I can borrow Warcraft books for months on end and, instead of paying an overdue fine, I can clear out an unlabled can of god-knows-what from the back of my cupboard! Hopefully this catches on.

P.S. No, my name is not Mr. Joe Bloe and I do not, in fact, live on Fairy Lane.

Foodbanks, or at least the ones here, generally do not accept unlabled food or cans.

    Fines? What are fines?

My brother worked at the library for several years before he moved to Ontario. I "own" alot of library books without paying any fines.
