    Come to think of it, the calico can be made to look quite sexy. It's the sloped handguard that makes it look kinda like a dorky spacegun. If you straightened it out and gave it a reflex sight or made the front end look p90-ish, it could be quite the sex.

    The Calico Futura. It's an unfinished concept that I just wanted to show.
  • Chubi_ChanChubi_Chan Join Date: 2004-08-26 Member: 30924Members
    look good except for the front...it looks like you chopped off the front of a tec-9...

    the rest is ok.Just spruce it up a bit.

    still looks...kinda...eh...make it look a tad bit more like a real calico,hand grip,long barrel sticking out,NO LITTLE SLOTS [the holes by the end of the barrel] (forgot what their called...heat compensators is that susposed to be?)

    besides that,you've got a pretty good concept...but I just can't stand the front >.<

    lol. XD

    I'm thinking about it, man.

    I do not like the looks of this weapon - but I really don't care how something looks - only if it is efficiant. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Edit:

    Oh, and that concept is pretty cool!

    a bullpup assault rifle kinda version

    <img src='http://members.lycos.co.uk/rabbiteh/cal-rifle.JPG' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    still a lil plain tho
  • HellspawnUKHellspawnUK Join Date: 2004-08-07 Member: 30437Members
    Would the above actually work? What with the clip being a good deal forward in respect to the ejection port.

    its more or less the same thing

    the bullets in the magazine are pushed back instead of front and thus, you can get a longer barrel into the gun
  • Chubi_ChanChubi_Chan Join Date: 2004-08-26 Member: 30924Members
    the above concept is pretty good.smooth it out a bit,add some detail,and we might get this rolling.

    im usualy dont like to show my unfinished stuff, but i thought it would fit here.
    im working since a few days on a helical mag bullpup.. appleseed style.
    its far from be done.. at the moment im working on the lower receiver-grip section..
    so just ignore that the both lower halfs are not welded together yet, at the moment im thinking on redoing them again. i thought fixing the errors later would be faster....

    burncycle wants to do this one for ns, but he said he wants my highpoly version as reference <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    @Sheena

    Is it one handed? looks very heavy for a one handed gun. Also if you hold it with 2 hands (second hand under the front) it wouldn't matter much because the center of mass is right above the trigger. (at least it looks that way) [/Rant]

    well *cough* looks very cool doh <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    i love it when peoples answer their own questions..
    so..theres nothing to add anymore
  • Blammo8Blammo8 Join Date: 2005-02-06 Member: 40141Members
    The wieght still rests for the bigger part on your shooting arm, which will get very heavy in time. (this was my original point) But my other point still stands as well, cool looks > realistic looks
  • HellspawnUKHellspawnUK Join Date: 2004-08-07 Member: 30437Members
    How did you model that nurbs, polies or subs?

    Cause I can't get anything to look like that when using nurbs.....nor polies cause I'm useless, but MEH

    Ooow rabbity, not bad i wounder if a new calisto hex clip could be designed were you load the bullets in opposite to the current one so you rdesigne wouldnt have the move the bullets back so far

    can i see this with a 100 round clip, and also a shot of the ejection port side

    if you mean the calico,then here's the 100 round version (carbine style)
    <img src='http://world.guns.ru/smg/calico960.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    and it's kinda hard to see,but the ejector port is on the side of this one,clear but not sharp.

    well,so is anyone gonna bother to try to model a calico <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    wow! I reall like rabbity´s and zerobyte´s concepts, never imagined the calico style could actually look cool. only thing to add would be a bigger handguard in front (for my taste).

    no offense sheena, your work is awesome as usual. but I dont like the style, it just looks to clumsy and heavy.
    I also agree with drfuzzy here. you show all this amazing stuff but we will never see it in action so it seems to be kinda pointless.

    as long as you dont skin it, finish your nancy model and allready create some AWESOME SCENE RENDERS!!!

    @ sheena... very nice to see you did your homework, i love how much you go out of your way to help us...

    on second hand... here's some LOCAL info about the calico (i mean local to me...) The local gun store had a Calico M100 used and priced at $150.... it was in the store for 35 minutes before it was sold again... my roomates went and saw it, the people that entered the store after them purchased it...

    i saw one at the 'old quarry' 2 weeks ago, their magazine had failed, and it was in-operable... but i have their phone number, and i WILL fire that puppy before i die!

    as to more price-related postings that sheena gave us all, she's right, it's a collectors item, but the weapons ban has been lifted, so there is hope that calico might be ressurected and sell me my baby!

    www.gunbroker.com is a good place to get reference pictures, and even price-quotes... such as <a href='http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=33199999' target='_blank'>this calico 100 round magazine: it's only $179</a>

    much love for the calico...
