    Well, that leaves Home Depot out ... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

if you're not too picky, most convenience stores, pizzarias and such are often easy to get jobs at...

it's the huge chains like the afforementioned Home Depot that generally do drug tests...

Just look around small shops, see if they want a counter jockey. Failing that, McDonalds.

I was lucky that there was a small theme park near where I used to live. I remember when I had to sell ice-creams and donuts...man, I had so many flakes, donuts, and slush puppies. Not bad for minimum wage.

If your not opposed to hard work, Landscaping is a pretty good summer job. Most of the places around me have already finsihed hiring, but its definatly somethign to look into. It pays much better than most other jobs, and usualy they aren't too picky about experiance,if they need some one. It is hard owrk, but tis outside all day (which I personaly love, and if you can get experiance, it's often a pretty good guarenteed job for future summers.

Near-same situation. I'm 15 though, getting my license next year. I fix people's computers for money, but it's not enough... I can't have a drug test either...

    omg I can't have a drug test/alcomahol test/sanity test/ taste test or anything!!1!1!.
/sarcasic attempt and joining the "bandwagon".

I wash windows; pays crappy and I hate it. Get a job without budgeted hours or ladders. Landscaping sounds key.

Any of the national chains for food service (read: Mcdonalds, burger king, pizza hut, papa johns, taco bell, taco johns, and etc) do not require a drug screening it is only for the companies that plan to promote you from within, and being so young there aren't a lot that look at you as potential employees due to an insurance perspective.

Most require at least 18, I know home depot does for selling things, and teaching people how to say build a deck. Same goes for almost all retail, you need to be at least 18-21(depends on job), but can be 14-16 and be a cashier.

Yea, I'm 18, so mostly no problem.

Does Starbucks do drug tests? I know Starbucks offers full benifits to even part time employees, and it's not like there's a short supply of Starbucks' around wither.

BTW, I'm not a huge stoner, I just happen to enjoymyself with friends on special occations... Like being done with school...

Quick (offside?) question, if someone happens to fail a drug test for a job application, will charges be pressed against them, or do they just not get the job?
  • DepotDepot The ModFather Join Date: 2002-11-09 Member: 7956Members
    Just not get the job.

I got friends working pet stores, landscaping places, pizza places, and a couple tried for Chuck-E-Cheese.

Its a decent mix of low-paying and low-skill summer jobs....

If your a good talker, have a decent personality, and you face doesn't look like it hit floor when you were born. Give furniture sales a try, if you focus you can make some good money, since furniture sales hit peak around summer time

You all say landscaping pays good? If $8 bucks an hour is AWESOME for you guys...

Most cities have some local MAJOR company that pays usually 10 or more for entry level...while they require a drug test, they are quite easy to pass.

I forget the exact name, but you can buy a bottle of some mixture for around $20 and as long as you don't smoke for 3 days before and drink the entire bottle, you'll pass.

Or if you're cheap like me, just don't smoke 2 days before and drink lots of water day before and day of the test. Goldenseal helps too. Back in highschool I had random tests and just drank around a gallon of water a day, never failed a test.
