In an attempt to divert attention from my lip-sync falsification, I will now provide for some more aesthetic oddities:
China – Fairly well known; it was for a time considered attractive to have the feet of women painfully bound up; this practice was started at a very early age, so they became horrendously deformed over time, allowing them to fit in these freakishly small shoes. The practice I believe ended just at the turn of the 20th Century.
Greece – Embarrassed by the length of your wang? Hijack a time machine and head back to Ancient Greece, where your short stump would have been highly lauded. Perhaps not based solely on aesthetics, the Ancient (male) Greeks had a preference for shorter penises; it was believed that shorter penises meant that it took less time for sperm to travel through during sexual intercourse, and thus the sperm would remain ‘hot’.
Significance? Hotter sperm results in a greater chance for boys (the more overrated of the two genders of that period). Long schlongs naturally equated to more travel time, and thus a greater period for the sperm to cool down, which would correlate into a greater result of a girl.

I can't pinpoint the verse, but this is Biblically correlated in the book of Song of Solomon; in one of his sermons, our pastor made a note of the verse by the 'Beloved' who felt she wasn't good enough for the 'Lover' because of her skin tone from working in the fields - she was a peasant whereas the 'Lover' was part of the royalty, if I'm not mistaken.

taste in women is, as many of you have said, largely an acquired thing. the only thing that's genetic is attraction to symmetry and lack of deformities, which is why we can pretty much all agree our lovely newswoman here is indeed lovely. Aside from that, it's all societal influence and possibly oedipal too (guys being attracted to women who look vaguely like their mothers).
I, for one, have never been attracted to a skinny girl in my life, no matter how many times tv, magazines, movies and the like have told me they were pretty. Take me to those curvy ladies every time.
too bad that even most girls who aren't skinny wish they were, no matter how many times you assure them that skinniness is not an ideal, it's just a preference some guys have, and some don't...
