The backstory for the compulsor cannon.

QUOTE

    TSA Intelligence Network
    ==========================
    Intel Analysis Report

    Priority: High

    Distribution:
    TSA High Command; Frontiersmen Command

    Keywords:
    Weapon MTS-CMP25; Compulsor Cannon; UNICONG; Project Praetoria

    The compulsor cannon is a Compressed Pulse Ordinance weapon developed by Matushita Heavy Industries.

    Those in the arms industry would have heard rumours of Matushita's compulsor weapon R&D programme. First developed as a new class of first strike surgical ship-to-ship weapons, compulsor cannons fire a compressed pulse wave. Attuned to a specific frequency, a compressed pulse wave is able to pass harmlessly through other objects until it collides with another object with the same material frequency it is tuned to. Upon collision the pulse wave decompresses, resulting in an devestating shockwave.

    Ship borne compulsor weapons were intended to carried and fired internally. This allows for ships to fire upon opposition crafts first without giving away their intention. The ability for compressed pulse waves to be tuned to material frequencies also allows for surgical strikes to be made, giving the ship's captain a choice of disabling certain parts of the enemy ship like the engine or weapons bay.

    Upon request of the Universal Conglomerates Federation (UNICONG), of which Matushita Heavy Industries is member company, Matushita undertook a project to create a man portable version of the compulsor cannon. The resulting weapon is the MTS-CMP25 Squad Field Cannon. Though is significantly less powerful than the Matushita ship-borne compulsor weapon prototypes, its main advantage is its portability by an Infantry-Grade Squadron and relatively simple construction as contrasted to the ship borne weapons.

    Intelligence sources indicate that some of the specifications given by UNICONG for the project are:

Man-portability

Industrial-nanite grade construction

Organics firing capability

    Analysis of intelligence shows a high rate of probability that this weapon was developed specifically as a weapon for UNICONG's Project Praetoria*. As UNICONG does not have access to the Gravity weapon technology utilized in the Frontiersmen's Siege Cannon, Compulsor weapon technology was recognized by Project Praetoria coordinators as a capable of supplanting the siege weapon in Project Praetoria operations.

    As of now, the MTS-CMP25 is only capable of targetting bacterium structure frequencies. Matushita engineers are having difficulty in tuning the pulse waves to the more unstable frequencies of moving organics, though there is no doubt Matushita is attempting to develop the technology further to do so. Intercepted reports about the MTS-CMP25's capabilities indicate similar range and power to the Frontiersmen Siege Cannon

    *Project Praetoria is a military operation by the UNICONG. Under Project Praetoria, UNICONG intends to stand up a fighting unit that mirrors the Frontiersmen operational doctrines. By creating a mirror group to the Frontiersmen UNICONG hopes to deprecate the Frontiersmen and therefore undermine the TSA, eventually leading to the disbandment of the TSA and the retractment of The Charter

    Can you please post a Render with just the diffuse map and with the defult scaline max render? That will give us a good idea of how it will look ingame...

    @shinzon

    The shields, bit between the shields, and barrel are rendered that way in the previous render (except for using MR instead of scanline because it's faster). 100% self-illum, set to not recieve shadows.

    Here we go with no lighting in the scene at all, to show how some of the textures I've got so far work out:

    edit: I should say that at the moment I'm working with 1024px textures, but they ought to reduce just fine.

    I'm a bit apprehensive about the ridges on the thinner part of the barrel. It seems to break the form of the gun. Love the TSA wings on the shield though.

    Well, yeah. I said before I didn't like the barrel
