In the early game
Hey comms, I seem to be finding that no public commanders are aware of the most important part of a game of ns.
In the first 3:30 the ONLY thing you should be worried about (besides basic stuff like dropping base and the first 2 rt's for your builders) is the alien nodes. The aliens' power is directly drawn from their rt base. This is obvious. Think about when YOU are on aliens and nobody drops rt's. Now think about a situation where your gorges drop rt's and then those nodes die quickly. Its gg right? Well when you are in the chair, why aren't you remembering this?
To find the hive drop ammo packs where the hives would be. When an ammo pack doesn't drop or drops then visibly falls through a hive, thats the one. You will also hear alien sounds around the area most likely.
Now go to the obvious close rt's and listen for them. They make a little gurgling noise, and you will probably hear a gorge building them. So send any free marines there! You only need 2-3 rt's and 3 buildings in base. AT MOST you need 2 marines building, everybody else should be pushing those alien rt's. Call your marines by their names, tell them to go to the waypoint which you place on those rt's.
If you take down alien nodes, you positively delay the second hive, the fades, and rt/lerks. (anything that costs 50 res) During this delay, you keep your upgrades going, so when you do face a second hive situation you are much better off.
Nothing will win you more games than listening to this.

Seriously, pub comms should listen to this.
My most given order in one match is always "get me rts".
I don't bother to send them to kharaa RTs, I just send them to all. Is it theres? ammospam, shoot and claim. Noones? Wrong, that also our rt.
before the game hits 5 min I want 5 RTs and all rines with no job hunting for more.
Ditto.
First thing I do when I hop into the chair, is say 'everyone but "Insert one marine here" go and get me rts.'
there are someone who is so l33t that he gonna r4k till fade. and u know the skills of pub marines, cannot aim cannot listen cannot weld. maybe u delay those who cant bite so well, but u cant stop a 2 minutes fade.
It is likely your team cannot cap unclaimed RTs and assault Kharaa RTs at the same time. Cause there will be skulks out to eat them. In this case, it's best to focus on killing the Kharaa RTs. Once they are reacting to you to defend their nodes, the 1-2 rambos capping RTs elsewhere will have an easier time.
This is a nasty way to implement electrification. If it's a 10v10 server, send 7-8 marines to kill Kharaa RTs, then electrify it. Now Kharaa will either have to waste time taking it down without a fade, which ur marines can disrupt easily, or build RTs elsewhere, which will be very easy to take down as skulks find it hard to get to such locations.
Smart move man.
I have yet to adapt my tactic with newer versions. silyl it still works.
PUB tactic:
one rine build base
all others get rts
build ip
build armory
up armory
mine armory
send rine for rts
ONLY upgrade, starting with armor2. (only as in no turrets)
med alot, ammospam alot.
be damn sure to get a obs, perhaps even before builder leaves base.
shoot kharaa in this order:
RT
upgrade chambers
hives
lifeforms, highest first
Do not save rts, but instead push for theres. IF they lose a rt, and we lose a rt, ours is up again faster then theres.
a 8 man team for rines can feed of one rt, kharaa can't. Don't expect to just have 1 rt, but if its a similair count, rines are in advantage.
5 min lv2 armor + HMGs and HA on the way is hard to stop if kharaa are livinf on a maximum of 3 nodes.
I disagree--I think dropping a res node as marines is literally *almost* always worth it. It takes a skulk over 30 seconds to kill a node. Worst case when you drop a node there will be a skulk on it after 15 seconds, which means you lose like 3-4 res by dropping it but (especially in a 6v6) you gain a huge amount of time where the game is 5v6. Plus you delay the skulk from hitting your other nodes.
That makes sense doesn't it nada?
im a pubber, and i know how to press the number four on my keyboard...

So do upgrades and getting the hive early.
You may know how to select a welder, but how often do you weld even LA marines without being prompted?
Edit: I don't mean to use you as an example, but this is generally how things are in the pub scene.
Man, u have a very good point there, i like shooting a lot more, REALLY DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT WELDING EXCEPT BUILDINGS <--- Thats just wrong
Bottom line: rts! WELD!!! *hits head rapidly*
