whats sad is that almost this exact same thing happened to a friend of mine. she likes that xanga crap and was whining about her yearbook teacher and yearbook class and said some stuff. none of it was a threat, i saw everything. pretty much the closest thing to a threat was "f*** her (teacher), f*** yearbook, f*** it all." then this idiot girl in that class who is my friends evil enemy told the teacher, and then the teacher let her go home in the middle of the day to print off everything my friend said and bring it back to school since xanga was blocked on the school network. my friend came really close to getting in major trouble until the principle looked at the stuff she said and brought some sanity into the school system and told them they werent threats.
what kind of world is it where you have to obey school rules when your at home surfing the internet.

If every idle teenage threat warrented jailtime, I'd say about 100 percent of the teenaged population would be incarcerated. And besides, he's not getting in trouble for that.
... What's the world coming to?
If you go into a highschool, and survey all the kids, a large percentage don't think they have nearly as many freedoms of speech and expression as they in fact do.
The first amendment is going out the window.
edit: and in response to reasa, I need to read that book. I've been meaning to, but have never got around to it.
In my school, one dress code violation = 3 hour afterschool detention. This is a public school; no uniforms.
I almost got suspended for climbing up on a trailer to retrieve a frisbee, because I'm a senior and I have to "set the example" for the younger kids.
Yet other seniors (and kids in general) can walk into class drunk, stoned (actually reeking of the damn stuff), and no one gives a crap.
So really, the fact that this person is being punished for posting curse words and such is sad but not surprising.
Doing that for profanity is retarded, doing it because he made death threats, well.....thats acceptable. Kinda like how some phone calls and emails and such are searched for 'bad words' like stuff having to do with terrorism. 99 times out of 100 its complete nothingness, it just is troubling to see, but that one time, reporting it could make a big difference. People seem to never be able to be too careful.

100%, if not more.

That would be beautiful irony.

We prefer the term doubleplusgood irony.
thats why they get mad when they look at your journals.
no wonder why u f*** it.
EDIT: PS
most teachers sux. teachers become teachers when they didnt do well in their studies, or else they wont end up with themselves teaching in schools. if they have good results, why not work in governments or companies? so if u ever meet a good teacher, treasure it.

Depends on if someone will report you, an important person sounding really serious can make somebody like that get expelled.
And unfortunatly Im not surprised anymore when crap like this happens.

"There ought to be limits to freedom."
...Sorry that was uncalled for. This has nothing to do with shrub.

Let me just say that the problem is cyclical in nature. Kids act out, schools get tougher; schools get tougher, kids act out. I don't see a real solution to this problem.
This is how I feel a high school should be. If the students can act responsibly, I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed certain liberties. The reverse is also true, if everyone in your school is irresponsible then expect to have less freedom. Main thing is, once they take away those liberties it's very hard to get them back. Which sucks for those that can handle them.
